Need Help Girls!

So originaly my fiance and I thought we would run off and get married but then my grandmother talked to me and told me that she regretted doing it to her parents. So now we aren't sure what to do because we want to get married December 21st 2012 because the best man is in the air force and is getting deployed at the first of the year. Well we don't want many people, so we want it small, and we don't really have a lot of money to put into it. We thought that we would still run off and then after wards have a reception and invite everyone. I asked my grandmother and she had no advice for me because she didn't do that. I need help! please give me some ideas, anything is good.

  • It's your wedding so do what you want. Your grandmother already had her day so you don't have to let her sway you. I'm personally not a fan of attending receptions when the wedding already happened.

    I agree with PP.

  • If you are having a small wedding why not look into a restaurant that has rooms available?  The ceremony could be at your local city hall or even at the restaurant location itself.  Your best bet is to start calling your local venues to see what they have available.    With a December date many places may be booked for holiday parties.

    Good luck!

  • Why not have a small wedding with just the people closest to you without running off? It doesn't have to be a big affair. It's your day! Do what you want.

  • You can have a small wedding, but why not just keep it local? Why do you have to run off? If you do that, I am personally not a fan of having a huge reception later on. If you want to celebrate with everyone, then do the wedding at home and invite everybody that you want.

  • If you want to elope, elope.  If you don't want to elope, you have plenty of time to plan a small wedding, especially if you keep your mind open about what it will be like and utilize the help of those who offer.

My SIL got married with 3 weeks notice and I think a total of $200 with about 70 guests.
