I would like to incorporate a candlelight ceremony into our unity candle ceremony. We will be having my FI's sister and our friend sing "Divine Romance" by Phil Wickham during our unity candle ceremony. I know from experience that it can get awkward after the candle has been lit when there's about 3 minutes of song left and nothing to do but stare at the bride and groom who are awkwardly giggling because they're not sure what they're supposed to be doing. As a solution, I thought it might be nice to include our guests by handing out candles before the ceremony, have the pastor explain the significance of the ceremony, and light their candles from ours after we light the unity candle (like the Christmas candlelight ceremony at church). I'm not a sappy person, and I definitely don't enjoy cheesy things, but this ceremony nearly brings me to tears each Christmas because of the spiritual significance. Would this be a nice and meaningful way to include all of our guests, or am I kidding myself and it's actually pretty corny? Thanks for the input!
