Married!!! and back with reviews

Reception - Narragansett Towers A+I could not recommend a location more heartily. Our wedding was perfect.  The magic of the Towers made the event grander. Plus, having the Coast Guard House right next door was a big hit for an after reception cocktail. Note that the towers do not have air conditioning BUT because it is on the ocean and the way the windows are lined up, even on the hottest days its okay.Catering - Atomic Catering A++One thing about our wedding that I have to note, is that we got a million compliments on the food! Everything was flawless…We were extremely pleased with the professional attitude of our chef Evan, the wait staff and manager Barry. We had delicious stuffed mushrooms, chicken, lobster ravioli, crab rangoon, and clam chowder...we are still getting compliments from our guests. The price was significantly cheaper than other catering companies that we looked into-clearly, without sacrificing the quality of food or service.Photographer- Heather Parker Photography A++ for day-of, final grade pending photosOne of my bridesmaids used Heather last year and the photos kicked butt. Just before my wedding, her work was published in the knot's magazine in some best of section so I was really excited to have nabbed her as our photographer as she had really reasonable prices for how high end her work is. She was great to have around on our wedding day and had wonderful ideas. I have no doubt the photos will be great.Music - A++We are lucky enough to have friends who are both DJ's and one is part of a string quartet so we were gifted such wonderful music for our wedding. One less thing to think about and a good feeling to be able to trust such very talented friends to add a little bit of magic to the day.Cake -  Konditor Meister A+My family has been going here for years and it was the obvious choice for our wedding cake. We had Strawberry Grand Marnier and Carrot Cake for our options. Most and delicious and though not the cheapest, they are reasonable for the high quality they've earned their name from.Dress - Wishing Well Bridal A+I went to four bridal salons before I settled here. I bought my wedding dress at Wishing Well and had a great experience. I went in several times over several months and always had friendly, helpful service.  One thing that was extra helpful was that they allow you to take pictures (many salons don't), don't hover over you and pressure you at all. They have a huge selection of dresses (the most that I found in RI or southern MA area) that are organized by size. Their prices are also reasonable... the lowest I found for all the dresses I was looking at. Whats even better is that the dress came in much earlier than estimated and they called me just about immediately. Tuxes - Waldorf Tuxedo A+They outfitted my husband, his groomsmen and our fathers who were all given friendly service every time and they managed all our changes as our wedding date approached well.  They even have a website where the guys can submit measurements. One advantage of using Waldorf is that they have their warehouse on property, unlike many other companies who order their tuxes and have them shipped in. This is very useful in case there is a problem with your order or if anyone's measurement changed slightly. Good prices too.Wave Lengths Salon & Spa  A+What was most important is that the girls and I would have a place to get ready and be somewhat relaxed on my wedding day if that was even possible. It was! Hair and makeup were done and matched my trial perfectly. They were cool with refreshements and the music was perfect. I highly recommend Wave Lengths as it was everything I had hoped it could be.That's it so far. Though I was mostly a lurker I want to thank all of you for being so helpful in the tips that you provided made my wedding planning less stressful.

By any chance did you get any surprises in terms of what was still owed to the towers the night before? Can you help me by telling me a couple things? How long was your reception? Cocktail Hour? How long did your dj play?  and did you have to pay an additional fee if your caterer needed more than 2 hours set up time? And did they need that?I had an AMAZING experience with the Towers up until the night before the wedding.  Kate called me DURING my rehearsal dinner to tell me that I owed her almost 1k more - even though I had already made my final payment 60 days before the wedding.  She wanted money for the band (saying they were playing for an extra half hour) and also so the caterer could get in there 3 hours before the event - Russell Morins always gets there 3 hours early - but she wanted money for this as well. Talk about STRESS right in the middle of my rehearsal dinner!

Hi to you both! I am getting married at the towers in october--Alicia--I asked my caterer about the additional fee and she said it is usually $55 if you are going to need more than an hour--did you have to pay the $700? thank you both for your comments on The Towers--they are so helpful!

It was WAY more than $55.00 - That part was like $255.00 and every caterer needs more than an hour to set up.  So its an unfair rule.  She also never gave me the "rule book" which she alluded to that night.  I had a signed contract with times, etc on it.  No signed rule book. Dont get me wrong - if I had to do it all over again Id still pick the Towers but I would be VERY CLEAR with Kate what Im paying for and what Im not. In my opinion - she should have looked everything over and called me a couple weeks before the wedding to discuss. Not interrupt my rehearsal night for this stuff. In the end - she told me if I didnt pay she would shut the bar down early, stop the band from playing that extra half hour.  So I paid - by check - that said "paid under duress" in the memo line - it did not clear  ;)
