Just curious what people are doing? I'd like to have a stationary cheese platter and passed hors d'oeuvres, 3 per person. But trying to balance getting the best price with keeping people happy and well fed for cocktail hour.
We are doing a combo of both ... we have stationary cheese/cracker platters & stationary veggie ... then we are offering 8 different passed hors'doeuvres. I had no idea how much food to have per person so we just went with what our coordinator at the venue reccomended.HTH!
I am doing the same. Stationary cheese and crackers and stationary veggies/dips and 5 different types of passed hot/cold hors d'oeuvres.

We're doing stationary cheese and veggie displays as well as a stationary pizza table. Then passed hors d'oeuvres...3 pp based on the # our coordinator told us we should have.
We did both as well. I feel like the passed hor doeuvres makes a HUGE impact at your wedding though- if want to cut one of them out, cut the stationary ones out.
We had stationary cruidet's (cheese & crackers/ veggies & dip) and 5 passed hot app's. I liked this mix but make sure if you do passed, that your venue has enough to go around. We were at a recent wedding and there were only 2 serves passing the apps and the trays had a mix of all the apps. By the time the tray got to us, it was desimated. Just a thought to keep in mind
We had 5 passed apps and a stationery display of cheese, crackers, veggies also. I think they charged us the crudite display for only 3/4 of the guests? It didn't run out, we just did what the caterer lady suggested!I wanted the "simple" app stuff there, since a couple of our passed ones were a little "adventurous", and I wanted to make sure even the plain taste buds got their fill!

I have the opposite advice, my sister did just stationary for her wedding - a cheese/cracker/fruit, an antipasto, a crostini and a raw bar - and it was great, everyone loved it and it kept the cost down (except the raw bar - but my dad insisted on that and he was paying so it was his own fault!)I didn't miss the passed, but I was the MOH so was running around a lot. I just met with the same caterer to talk about mine and she seemed to think that people prefer stationary.
