Advice on wedding at Village Inn??

Hey all, My fiance and I are having the hardest time finding a venue that works for us. We have been engaged for 7 months and I am originally from RI but we both live in Texas. We looked at a few places in Newport but to be honest, way too expensive. I am looking for something with an ocean view and most of our guests are out of town so a nice place for them to stay. I came across the Village Inn online and it looks nice but reviews on Trip Advisor are horrible. Anyone have any experience with it? Also, does anyone have any suggestions for a venue with beach/ocean view, not crazy expensive like some Newport places and can fit 150-200 people? We were looking for something with a destination wedding-like feel but have not found any resorts or anything like that in RI. Thanks!

Have you looked into Easton's Beach Rotunda? It's in Newport right on first beach or Easton's Beach. It's very inexpensive and you can decorate it however you like!http://www.cityofnewport.com/departments/economic-development/ballroom/home.cfm

My best friend actually got married at Easton's so I didn't want to get married at the same location as her. It's beautiful but didnt want to replicate her big day!

Did you try Atlantic Beach Club? It is actually in Middletown but right on the water with beautiful ocean views. I have eaten in the restaurant numerous times and the food is always good. Actually yes we did check out Atlantic Beach Club. We are actually going to have an Indian wedding and they were not able to cater indian food, nor did they allow an outside caterer. Also, all their dates for next summer were booked before this summer even began! Ahhh, so frustrating!!

I grew up in Narragansett. The Village Inn used to be a nice place but I think it's become pretty run down over the years. Although, haven't visited in quite some time. I agree with people, I visited The Rotunda at Easton Beach in Middletown (right on the water) or The Towers in Narragansett is another really pretty place right on the water. Good luck.

I am getting married at the Village Inn. It is a beauitful venue. They have been more then accommodating. They have a variety of packages that are reasonably priced. They basically let us customize our package to exactly what we want. The food is also great. We went to the tasting a few weeks ago. Let me know if you have any other questions.

we were married at the village inn in May. The events are run by Amalfi - www.amalficaterers.comtotally different mgmt than the hotel so Trip Advisor can't help you. Hi- I am actually getting married there this Sunday. I like the ballroom because it has views of the water and the Narragansett Towers. I am having my guests stay at The Hampton Inn in South Kingstown which is so pretty and only 5min. down the street.After Sunday I will have pics. I am getting married in July at The South County Museum, but am using Amalfi Caterers as my catering company- they are the caterers for the Village Inn. http://www.amalficaterers.com 
All of my experiences with Alyson have been awesome- she is really helpful.  I went to a tasting as well and LOVED all of the food.  Alyson worked with me with my budget and figured out something that was best for my fiance and I.  I highly reccomend them. 
Also- my meetings with Alyson have been at The Village Inn and while the hotel needs some help, the Ballroom looks beautiful and I love the deck upstairs!

I am using amalfi catering as well, but for a wedding at the North Beach Clubhouse just down the road... and I have to say alyson is great.  She made me feel so confident and she totally worked around our budget.  We'll see how it all goes down on the wedding day, but so far I'm really really happy.
