A violin for the ceremony and cocktail hour

I'm looking for a violinist (or cello) for our ceremony and cocktail hour in Rhode Island, but everywhere I look people are asking to come as a trio. While I would love to have a trio because each and every one of them sounds amazing, it's just not in the budget. I've asked the vendors I've talked to if I could just have a soloist and they all tell me that they don't do solo work.

Do any of you know someone I could call??

Thanks Ladies!

Try posting an ad on Berklee's college of music website.  I just did the other day and have gotten a lot of responses.  It's definately worth a shot.  I also only found out about this through another bride on here.

I found my guitarist off of Craigslist. You just need to be careful though because anyone can post on craigslist and I have heard of some horror stories from brides to be that did not have a good outcome. I also looked on: gigmasters.com. Good Luck!!!

You should check out gigmasters.com  It lists tons of different types of musicians from your area.  That's how we found our guitarist.  Good Luck!

I booked mine off of gigmasters.  Her name is Samantha Gillogly and she is a solo violinist/fiddler and came with great reviews!

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying?  I'm mostly interested in knowng for rates for the ceremony and am at a crossroads as to how much I really want to budget for this!

Hello Newtonite. Do you mean for the violinist? We're budgeting no more than $700 for that. It shouldn't cost us that much, but we're leaving some wiggle room.

Thanks for the suggestions folks! I didn't know whether gigmasters was a dependable site or not. I'm glad to hear it is. This should be so much easier this way. Thanks!

i found angela/stringlscalm on gigmasters. her email address is: aishyr@gmail.com we're getting married on a monday-but are paying less than your budget for a string trio for 2 hrs. i believe you could easily afford her pricing for saturdays for a duo with your budget.

Try Occasional Brass!  We booked a trio and are so excited for them to play our ceremony.  You can hear sample wedding music on their site.  They are also on gigmasters.  Good luck.
