Russell Morin's brides - wedding cake?

Our wedding is next June & our caterer is Russell Morin.  In our proposal, they included a wedding cake so we just assumed they'd be doing our wedding cake & didn't bother looking into anyone else (yay!  one less vendor to find haha). 

However, now that I'm getting further into planning, it seems like most Morin's couples use a separate baker.  I've noticed it on wedding blog posts (Russell Morin listed as the caterer, but someone else listed for the cake) and vendors seem surprised when I say Morin's is doing our cake.

So are you using (or have you used) them for your cake?  Why/why not?  Any other advice?

We aren't having a cake at our wedding, but during our tasting, we tried all the flavors, and it really made me double think about having a cake. They were soooo delicious!!

My favorite was the carrot cake, and the cream cheese frosting was seriously the best I have ever had.  FI loved the chocolate ganache, and ate all of that himself.  The lemon cake with the lemon curd was also delicious.

We aren't doing a cake either (we are doing their pie station), but I believe they do have someone that does cakes for them.  So I'm not sure if it falls under Morin's or someone separate that they work with.

We did a small wedding cake to cut during the cake cutting and it was delicious.  We just each had a piece and saved the rest for our year anniversary.  We served our guest strawberry shortcake since our wedding was in August @ Ft Adams on a beatiful evening.  I only had one person complain but I didn't give a sh#$$%^%$t!  It was a hit with the other 179 guest!

Morin's is our caterer and they are doing the cake as well. Lemon cake with raspberry jam filling! Yum!

Morin's was our caterer for our May wedding. We did a small 3 tier cake along with mini apple and blueberry pies. We chose chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Cake was delicious, although we only had one bite of chocolate when we cut the cake!!  The cake was not important to me whatsoever and I wanted something (in terms of decoration) really plain and classic. Our cake was plain ivory colored frosting on the outside with a pearl decoration on each layer. Would definitely recommend Morin's making your cake!!
