    Hi
I got married at Fort Adams August 2010 (I know I should probably stop looking at the board but I love to share information) and it was fabulous.  If you go on Kate Whitney Lucey's (photographer) website you will see our pictures.  If you have any specific questions let me know.  I have more people to this day tell me what a fabulous wedding we had and the view was breathtaking!

I was considering Fort Adams!  Beautiful place.  There's a few negatives that made me ultimately decide to go elsewhere.

    1)  The bathrooms - if you choose to have the tent outside the fort, people will have to walk a bit to get to the bathrooms, or you'll have to have port-a-potties brought in, which can be VERY expensive.

    2)  Weather plan - wind whips in very easily there, and you can have it within the fort if it's raining, but then you waste the gorgeous view.

We're getting married at the Branford House in Groton, CT.  It's not far away, but we get a full 10 hours, have bathrooms all to ourselves, and it's got a lighthouse on the property!

I was concerned with the weather as well but I was instructed to visit a wedding that was taking place at the Fort on a cold, windy, ferocious rainy October night.  I was glad I did for it really put my mind at ease, the tent was so secure and looking from the outside in the wedding looked magical.  I also was a bit nervous about the bathrooms being a bit far from the tent. We were fortunate enough to receive as a wedding gift The Royal Flush which was a trailer port a potty with hardwood floors, tiled walls and air conditioned so we lucked out with this concern.  All I can say is Fort Adams is an amazing site and our guest still talk about the amazing venue we had our wedding at.

  • Thank you for all of the tips.  I guess my next step is going to see the grounds in person :)
