Favor ideas

Calling upon you gals once again, this time for favor advice!

Keep in mind we have a guest list of 220...

Ideas I've been tossing around:

homemade limoncello in cute glass bottles (seeing 220 glass bottles with the yellow limoncello would be a nice accent color in the cocktail area)

3x5 or 4x6 frames with a photo of us from our engagement session (would like to find an antique looking white or aqua frame)

giving a donation to a charity or society

I am open to hearing a bunch of ideas, advice on the above thoughts, and what the average amount per guest people are spending these days. Would love to do favors for as little as possible.

Thanks :-)

We're opting for the charity/donation route as we each have a charity that is very close to us and represents two family members who cannot be with us on our wedding day due to their respective illnesses.

The one good thing about this option is that you can spend whatever you feel comfortable spending per person.

    I like the charity idea.

The limoncello would look amazing all lined up though!  (Would you have to provide non-alcoholic favors for the under-21 crowd and the recovering AAers?)

    The frames would get expensive.

Another option is to skip favors altogether.  People probably won't miss them.

We did scratch tickets in a little vellum envelope with a 2009 penny tucked inside, sealed with a custom sticker (etsy, baby!).  Our wedding was at the Casino, so we thought it fit.

jlsimon - good call about under 21's and recovering AA's...limoncello favors would also likely be the most expensive favor option.

i'm liking the charity idea more and more...i really love the yellow livestrong wrist bands. both of our families have been affected by cancer.

Kristina! I LOVE the limoncello idea! Probably non-alcoholic would be your best-best (more affordable, too)

The charity is also a fab idea- but how would you express it? I know some people use rolled-up scrolls on each place setting - so more money goes into that...

Is one of your colors yellow?  You could have a bowl of the LS bracelets near where the placecards and guest book get set up, with a framed sign explaining why it's important to you, and inviting guests to please take one if they'd like.  Once the reception part is underway, move the bowl to another location so anyone who didn't see the first sopt will take one then.  Another knottie did something similar and it worked out.

I like the bowl of livestrong bracelets, especially if you're looking for something yellow. I think most people would see them if you placed the bowl by the escort cards.

Just as an FYI for anyone considering charities - a friend of ours was married recently and decided to donate to the American Cancer Society for her favors. Apparently, they will send you scrolls with a message indicating that the bride and groom have chosen to make a donation to the Society as a tribute to family members who've been affected by cancer.

I love the bowl idea too - less work on our part. If I did do cards for each bracelet, I would design them myself and print on cardstock, likely fitting 6-8 cards per page so it wouldn't cost a fortune.

The scrolls are a nice idea too. I will definitely look into that.

    You girls are the best.

And a note on colors: We haven't yet chosen bridesmaids dresses but I'm certain that whatever color we go with, yellow can be an accent...I'm thinking aqua, navy, cobalt, even magenta/fuscia at this point haha. Stay tuned on that topic ;-)

We are doing a charity donation as a favor. Each table with have 4 tented cards set up explaining that we've donated to two charities in honor of our guests, and why they are important to us.

Be careful if you decide to go with the alcohol- our venue said we weren't allowed to give alcohol as favors. Just do some research since I'm not sure that it's a state law thing or just venue rule.
