Rehersal dinner?

Hi everyone,
So I heard of doing a bowling, pizza n beer rehersal dinner which sounds like fun, but now my FI wants a dinner. Bowling is the cheaper and more fun way to go but he doesn't want it. So, I was looking for a good spot with good food and good prices. Also, do you invite wedding party bf/gf or husbands and wives?
Thanks,
My wedding is in 50 days and I have no one helping me. I have no clue about this stuff.

Hi! when you have a chance, jump over the the September 2010 boards - those ladies are tremendously helpful and will help keep you on track!  And since we are all roughly in the same place planning wise, we keep each other sane!  You and I are a weekend share, where is the wedding?

For RD - totally depends where you are and how much you want to spend.  Our wedding is in Newport, but we picked a restaurant in Providence to have the RD because it is our favorite place to go it's the Waterman grille.  They have an amazing downstairs event room, and an upstairs loft area.  I am paying $50 per person, and it's completely worth it!  They have a sister property in Newport, 22 Bowen's warf.  Give us a few more details and we can help you narrow down locations!

As for guests I think typically the gf/bf and spouses of the WP are invited, we invited all of our WP gf/bf/ spouses and a few OOT guests.

The wedding is at Crystal Lake Golf Club. I live in Warwick but we will be in Mapleville for rehearsal so I guess in between. My FI said I'm spending to much on the wedding which I think i'm doing a good job, but I don't think he realizes what we're getting. I want to try and keep it under $1000 if possible. We are having the rehearsal the week before the wedding so I won't have any out of town guest at that point. I have 4 guys, 1is my son he is 7 so only 3 guys with spouses and I have 4 girls not all have bf's Then parents. Do I invite grandparents?  I have about 21 people. I am stressed. All my bridesmaids suck none of them are helping me. If they weren't family they would all be out!

FI thinks your spending to much and now he wants a full on traditional RD?  :-) Men.  I invited Grandparents to the RD, but none of them will be in town, so they are coming.  I think if they are either OOT or attending the rehersal, they should be invited, but if not, I probably would keep it just the bridal party and parents.

It looks like you have some decent options for dinners, I went to mapquest, went to maps, typed in the town, then clicked the "restaraunt" icon.  A few came up that looked good and not overly pricey.  Bella had a really nice looking menu and you can customize the dishes to come in under budget they had a turkey dish at $19. and a Scrod at $21, then apps were priced out per hundred around $110. per app. you could definitely get that in under $1000.00   Tratoria Romana is in Lincoln, RI and is really declious too, they have an outdoor patio that can be shut down for events.

If you wanted to do Providence check Waterplace Park, I have seen gorgeous wedding receptions set up on their decks and patios.

I will brainstorm for more ideas.... keep us posted on the progress (and jump over to Sept - you won't be sorry I promise!!)  As far as BM's go I"m pretty sure they are supposed to suck, because mine certainly do!!

we're having a bbq and are inviting all the out of towners... about 50 people are coming!!  So, we had to go cheap.  it's $9 a person for burgers, hot dogs and 2 salads.  The catering company is called mixed grille catering.  Jennifer is really nice and I'd recommend them if you're looking for a casual rehearsal dinner.

Ehhh-- I know I say this a lot on this board. But I do NOT recommend waterplace.
Its too bad- I love the Pinelli Mare group-- but honestly, it was the worst experience.
I was a BM in my bf's wedding and they charged her 60pp at 21 people thats over your budget--
but they RAN OUT OF FOOD (ya, i know, theyre a restaurant) they were short 4 dinners- and instead of offering people something off the menu- -they gave them caesar salads-- plus the guy was super unprofessional-- right in front of everyone he goes "ill only charge u 30 for their dinners instead of 60" She was apalled and rightfully embarassed.

This isnt the first horrible experience i had there.

What about a BBQ? In your backyard or your parents
You dont have to actually cook, as someone mentioned you can get a caterer and if you have 25 people (yes, iwould include the grandparents--- they are likely old, and wont get to enjoy as many weddings for family members as you will get the chance to-- likely, they want to enjoy their time with you, and your their grandkids! )--- you can probably do it for 25 pp
    thats  $625

Go to an LQ store nad pick up 2 cases of wine, and a few 30 racks of beer and youve spent about $100 bucks on booze.

I rcently had 30 people for a graduation dinner- and I bought 4 30 racks and 8 bnottles of wine- and we had leftover.

If not, what about some place liek Jackie's Glaxie

What kind of food do you want? Italian, Traditional, American ?

Thanks everyone for your help. I talked to my FI about the cook out idea and he seemed interested in that so I have to talk to him some more about. My dad is the potentate at the shriners so I can do it there for a good price but the only thing is I had my jack n jill party there so I don't want to go to the same place again. I have to think of something soon though. lol

    Thanks again
