Best outdoor space for 175 people on a budget?

Thanks in advance!

  • There's a few options that come to mind!
    - Regatta Place - I had my reception there. Gorgeous! Big tent on a dock overlooking Newport Harbor. They are really good about working with budgets and the setting is unbelieveable. They have their own kitchen and staff, with yummy food! No port-a-potties needed!
    - The Rotunda on First Beach, Newport - The Moderator of this board had her wedding there so she could give you a better scoop. But, it's owned by the city and it's right on the beach that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. There's a carasoul (sp?) next door that's great for fun photos. It's indoors but opens up. You have to hire caterer and everything, but can be really budget-friendly that way. And you be selective of your caterer.
    - Glen Manor House, Portsmouth - It's an old manor house on sloping green manicured lawns that lead down to the Sakonnet River. There's indoor rooms, but also a stone patio you can use and you can use the grass area, too, and set up a tent if you wish. I believe they have indoor bathrooms. Also requires caterers.
    - Blithewold Manor, Bristol - Also a huge manor house that's gorgeous. Beatiful lawns and sunsets!  I believe that you have to provide everything there, too, but I could be wrong.
Scope them out! Let me know if you have any questions, especially about Regatta Place!

  • Thank you for your post.  I am going to look into those places ASAP!
  • I love Blithewold but the rental rates when I looked at it a couple of years ago was close to 10k on a Saturday night in the summer.

Linden Place with the ballroom and courtyard combined can host up to 200 guests. The rental rates are a bit high but include everything minus the catering service.

There is also Roger Williams Botanical Gardens and Easton Beach Rotunda Ballroom too. They both require outside catering though.
  • Try the regatta place, newport yachting center, and the outdoor pavillion at the hyatt in newport.  I've been to a wedding at the hyatt where they used the pavillion for dancing and cocktails and then had a beautiful tent set up right behind it where the reception took place.  I remember the food being delicious too--and I'm very picky about that.  Good luck!

I got married at Belle Mer on Goat Island in Newport, it can be pricey, but if you do off-peak (April or beginning of May), do a Friday wedding and the smaller room, it's a pretty low minimum and the views just can't be beat.

I also agree with PP about Regatta Place, Newport Yachting Center and I would check out Aldrich Mansion, it's AMAZING, where they filmed Meet Joe Black, and were very accomodating with price, for 175, I think it would be perfect.
