Laurel Lane Country Club - Help!!!

Hi fellow wedding planners.  My fiance and I, like many, are in the beginning stages of planning a wedding for next spring/summer.  We live in Newport, but both grew up out of state with families that will be traveling for our special day.

I would love to give our families a traditional Newport outdoor wedding, something with an outdoor ceremony followed by tented reception.  However, I don't believe our budget will allow for all of that.

In an effort to compromise, we have toured Laurel Lane Country Club, a very nice facility, but not at all what I had envisioned.  We simply cannot beat the price, though, and it would allow for me to spend a bit more of the budget on decor etc. to help the banquet room look like I have pictured.

The cons with this venue are two fold.  I will not be married on a golf course! lol I would like to find an outdoor venue with an ocean view.  Narragansett could work, as it's only 20min. away, but I don't like the idea of getting married directly on the beach, especially open to the public.

Does anyone know of a venue with ocean views that's a bit more private??  If I can't find a beautiful ocean side ceremony site, the country club reception will have to be out!

Thanks ladies!

What about getting married Inside the Towers in Narragansett. Then you ahve the ocean view for the ceremony without the public viewing. As well, there is hte South Ferry Church.
Also in Narragansett is the North Beach Clubhouse, for rent, with a space for a wedding- or again you can yuse S.Ferry church.

In newport- have you considered Easton's beach Routunda? Moni (the boards mod) can give you more information. Other budget friendly newport places include the Atlantic Beach Club (9where you can also be married outside, in the park, on the beach etc)

I also know quite a few brides that have been marreid at Gooseberry beach.

Finally, another budget friendly place is Fort Adams, where you can have the tent, you can also get married outside there and it would be fairly private!

  • Another outdoor ceremony location is Beavertail State Park in Jamestown--it is gorgeous.  The don't close the park but I can tell you that when I attended a ceremony there we did not at all notice anything going on other than the ceremony.  People respect the wedding and don't disrupt.  The park is so big and the ceremony is in a designated spot--which you can choose :)
