Kinney Bungalow + The Meeting House

Hi Everyone!

Anyone had a wedding or visitied either of these places? I went to The Meeting House and my conern is having the dancing separate from the eating - the tent is outside the place where the dancing would be. It seems like the flow would be off. Any input?

I really love Kinney Bungalow from the outisde, but from the pictures I've seen there is an odd structure in the middle of the main room that seems to block the dancing from the tables. I haven't been there yet, and I would love your opinions if you have them.

Thanks everyone!

Heather

Kinney Bungalow is a beautiful venue, but like you mentioned the center of the building is kind of blocked off/open, because that is where the stair case is.  You can see it in some of the pictures here:

I went to a wedding there and had a great time, and you get to bring in your own caterer which is good if you are looking for that.  But because of the stair case, the dance area is on the opposite side of the building from all the tables, so you either have to sit at your table, or stand in the dance area.  Maybe if you places a bunch of chairs on this half it would be better? I would have loved to use this venue but I really want everyone to be able to seethe dancefloor from their tables. HTH!

I loved the look and feel of Kinney Bungalow. Unfortunately, due to the staircase and our guest list, it didn't work out. Personally, I think it is a great spot for a smaller wedding--like 100 or less.

I smiled when I saw this post because those were our top two venues after looking at eight or nine. My FI had the same concern about the staircase separating the dancing and the dining areas at Kinney. It was set up for a wedding when we visited and we saw that if you had 10 or more tables, some have to go around the corner so not everyone can see everyone else, if that makes sense. It didn't really bother me that much, because I figured we could place a sweetheart table in the corner so everyone could see us if that's what he was worried about, but he kept bringing that up so I guess it really bothered him! Haha. That said, it's beautiful inside and I have loved that space for years.

Tiverton has the same sort of separation issue but there are actually two tent sites - one on the lawn away from the meeting house and the other, which is directly off the awning-covered porch. That's the site we're using. With the doors to the meeting house open, it will be one continuous space between the house, the deck and the tent. Plus we're putting cocktail tables in the back of the meeting house so people can take a seat if they like, put their drinks down, etc. The older people and non-dancers can either stay at their tables if the weather is nice or move inside and sit at a cocktail table and watch.

I have pics of both sites you're interested, as it seems like you're planning from afar.

That's a great idea about the cocktail tables in the room at the Meeting House. I've been there, but I haven't visited KB yet. I am planning on 100 or less people, so maybe the separation wouldn't be an issue? Can people who are sitting see the dancing?  I would love to see pictures of both if you have them. Thanks!

Well, the people on the ends might be able to see the dancing, but the ones in the center of the eating area wouldn't really.

Leave me your e-mail address and I'll send you some pics! :)

I live in MA and have been vacatioing in RI since I was a baby.  My fiance and I picked Kinney out of any other place in the world for the simple fact that the building inside and out is beautiful.  We are getting married there in 3 months and I am sooooooo excited.
