Ocean Cliff Advice

I am going to look at the Ocean Cliff this weekend for a venue for our summer 2012 wedding.  Has anyone had their wedding here or is planning on having it here and has any input? Does it end up being pricey when you add in open bar? I did not really understand the bar options when I received the information.  Thanks girls!

I had my wedding at Ocean Ciff back in September.  I absolutely recommend having a wedding there, becuase the view is amazing, the ball room is beautiful, the food is amazing and the staff is exceptional.

As for the cost, depending on what you want it can get a little pricey.  We opted for a Sunday daytime wedding instead of a Saturday night because that is what fit into our budget.  When it comes to an open bar, we opted for an open wine and beer selection with a signature cocktail, instead of a full open bar.  I think this definitely saved us a bunch of money.  We ended up budgeting about 3500 dollars for the bar, but it ended up only costing us 1500 dollars.

In my experience, Ocean Cliff was flexable and willing to work with us when it came to the bar.  We went over a couple senarios with them and they gave us some good advice about what the cost would be and what they would suggest for our budget.

    HTH!

    Hi
I cant talk from experience of having my wedding there, but I went to three this summer there and was in one. (We also got engaged at Oceancliff!) so it does hold a special place in my heart.

I can tell you what I know from my best friend who was married there and from when I visited myself (decided not to get married where so many close friends had)...

Her wedding was on a Friday night to save money. They had the basic food (75.pp) and then decided to have openbeer and wine only that came at a Per person pricing.

The other option is you can just put down a certain amount you want to spend (say $3000 and then it becomes cash).. and if you don't spend it all you get the money back... so in other words you are paying per drink.

I think it all depends on your day etc. If youa re having a Sunday day wedding people will drink significantly less than a Saturday evening wedding.

I can tell you that my best friend spent close to 40,000 on her entire wedding- which is good for newport, but that she didnt spend much on her dress, did her own flowers, made her own wedding cake and rented a trolley for transportation.
She also used an economical photographer... this might give you an idea of an average wedding cost for a Friday night.. but of course- -it all depends how you spend your money

When you meet with them be sure they do it all out PLUS the taxes.. dont forget 28% taxes adds on a good chunk of change.

I'm having my wedding at OC this July.  We were quoted approximately $35 pp for open bar.  Good luck!

I just looked at OC last week for my October 2011 wedding (ended up booking Regatta Place, which is owned by the same group). The gal I'm working with said a Saturday night open bar at OC or RP you can estimate approx $35pp, but a Fri night, Sat afternoon, or any time Sunday you can budget $25pp. What I loved is that you can select your own alcohol within reason! Hope this helps!

I had a bad experience there. Make sure that you ask if they have rooms there that are available before you book. They didn't tell me that and we booked there and then I found out they had no rooms available the night of my wedding so no one could stay there. They did give me my deposit back though.

  • Hi!! I really like OC and have a budget around 15k so I was also thinking of doing a Sunday day wedding to save money. Do you think it's possible to have a wedding there with my budget? :(
