Rhode Island

Photographer

I had my photographer booked, but she just called me & said she's pregnant and she's due 4 days after the wedding, so she told me that she cannot honor the contract & if anything changed, she would let me know.  So my wedding is in 8 months and I need to find a new photographer - does anyone have any suggestions?

I really love Kristen Spencer, but she's way out of my price range, but her work is what I like.

Thanks in advance for all the help!!

We're using Memories RI - Chris Beck is the photographer/owner and often shoots with his wife Amanda. Theyre based out of Kingston but travel throughout RI.They are very laid back and comfortable to be around. We just had our engagement shoot with them and we're very happy with the pictures. They have pics on their website but if you PM me your email, I'd be happy to send samples of our e-pics. Good luck!

We're using Sara Zarella in East Greenwich! She's organized, efficient, upbeat and really great at returning emails and phone calls (which I appreciate). We're using her the weekend before yours. Good luck!

Not sure where your wedding is taking place so I am including 2 suggestions.

As this is the Rhode Island board, we are using Susan Sancomb: http://www.sancombphotography.com/
I aboslutely love her work.  She has great prices and has been wonderful over the phone/email.  We're planning from 3,000 miles away and Susan took 45 minutes just to visually describe the area and our venues (which we haven't seen in person) to us.  She is so sweet and I really love her photo journalism style.

Your location is listed as Boston.  If that's the case, my future brother/sister in law used Perspectives Photography and their photos are gorgeous; I know they loved working with Perspectives and now my other future sister-in-law is using them for her wedding this October too:

    Good luck! : )

Kristen Spencer's style of photography is fresh, modern and editorial/stylized. I also love her work but she wasn't in our budget. Here are a few including my photographers, Visual Obsession. These photographers are not exactly budget friendly but they have packages in the lower price range.

Now what does the term "budget friendly" mean? Low price, low quality? Low price, high quality? If I pay a little, I will get a little? If I pay what I want, I don't get what I need? It can kind of can go on forever. Here is an idea. Explore what you like. Research what the price range is for what you like. Hire who and what you like.

We are using Memories RI - Chris and Amanda Beck.  They are incredible.  There prices are amazing and response time to emails and phone calls is like lightening speed! We had our engagement shoot a couple of months ago and couldn't be happier with the outcome!  I would highly recommend contacting them!

I was looking at booking Kerri Rae Photography. She takes pretty pictures and is very reasonably priced. I haven't heard anyone on this board ever mention her before though, but I'll probably book her and let you all know how she does!

Also, Sarah's Photography takes good pictures. She takes photos of my coworker's baby and they are always very well done. She has wedding pictures on her website that look nice. I asked her about wedding pricing and she just goes by the hour ($200 per hour) and then prints are additional for whatever you buy, so you can really make it fit any budget.

I have memories Ri booked - Chris Beck. Have the engagement session for later in the month. We thought the allday with style we were looking for was the best bang for the buck.

We also checked out Sara Zarella (didnt fit our budget) & Stack 9 Design (also all day coverage) that people memtioned above.

*Courtchace & mm5678 how fast did you get your engagement session photos?

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions! I am looking for a photographer too, and think I will contact Justine Johnson, her work looks AMAZING. First wedding photography website that's made me say "wow" rather than "oh...that's ok." (Too bad we have a teeny tiny budget...I guess I'll cross my fingers and ask about her rates!)

EyeJewel - We got ours 7 days later. He went on vacation right after we shot ours but we still got them 7 days later, even though he said 2-3 weeks. We love the photos, Chris and his wife Amanda made us feel so comfortable at the shoot. We had a blast. He captured exactly what we wanted, classic, romantic feeling pictures. Heres two peeks at our pics:
