Reception Venues

Picking a venue is a lot harder than I had imagined. We've looked at two, Quidnessett and Crowne Plaza. I had been dreaming of getting married at the Crowne for so long after all of the different events i had been too (weddings included) and when i went for the tour i wasn't as "WOW'ed" as i thought id be.

However I fell in LOVE with quidnessett. With the room, the view, the location, everything. I am making appointments with two other locations before i make a definite decision and commit, one being the Renaissance Hotel in Downtown Providence, and the other being, The Marriot Hotel in Downtown providence. Quite the difference compared to the locations i have previously looked at. But i feel like the city at night would make for a lovely back drop for photographs. Has anyone been to, or had a wedding of there own at any of these locations?!

If an urban setting is what you are looking for than I definitely suggest The Rhode Island Convention Center ballroom or rotunda. And yes downtown Providence makes for a very nice backdrop. I took my engagement/first look photos there. I've also seen some beautiful weddings at Water place park from brides at the Biltmore and such.

I am having my wedding at Quidnessett next year and trust me I have been to every venue in RI to search for the "perfect" venue and i loved Quidnessett. We have always have had to go to weddings at Quidnessett and I had my dances back from HS there so I loved Quidnessett anyways.

I also been to weddings at the Crowne, it is very pretty but I love the beach setting so I am biased on the whole city setting, but Royal is absoluely right, the Biltmore is beautiful and Water place park so it is definately totally up to you and what you and your FI enjoy.

    Goodluck! :)

Quidnessett is BEAUTIFUL in deed. Also i had an awful experience with the renassance hotel last night, when i went for my  appointment, the wedding coordinator wasnt even there. SUCH A TURNOFF, and VERY bad business. Luckily my FI ended up having to stay at work late last minute and i recruited a friend to come with me because it was an awful experience.
