We got my parents a portrait of their dogs done by an artist I found on Etsy.com (my parents are obsesses with the dogs, I can't wait to give it to them!) We're getting my FIL's a gift certificate to bedandbreakfasts.com so they can get away for a weekend.  Both sets of parents will get a personalized photo album after the wedding, too

we made baskets for each set of parents and put a gift certificate in it.  for my parents we got them a colander filled with a cook book, cooking utensils, random cooking foods (mostly italian things - seasoning, pasta, stuffed olives, cheeses, etc), a pot holder, wine stopper, etc. and a gift card to take a cooking class together.  for his dad's side - they love tea so a subscription to 3 months of the tea of the month club and a tea box filled with scone mix, tea bags, honey, those tea baller things, cookie biscuits, chocolates, etc. and his mom's side a gift card to ticketmaster (they go to many plays and concerts) with a basket for a night out - wine glass for her, beer pilsner for him, 2 small bottles of wine, wine stopper, 2 international beers, and a bunch of little snacks and treats they enjoy.
