Uplighting from Florists

Has anyone used a florist that also does uplighting.

Also has anyone used Victor as a DJ and done uplighting-- if so who did you use?

He mentioned something to me about getting approval for lighting--- because he didint want another DJ company doing it if we chose him....

But I dont want him to suggest to me someone that I cant afford or is out of our lighting budget.

So far Jason Citrone from Music Mixers and also Couture events have given me quotes-- but I dont think I can use either if I go w Victor as my dj,... since they are both affiliated w DJs or a DJ service.

I know that jonnysbride used lighting that she hired through Victor.  Have you gotten an uplighting quote through Victor yet?  I would ask him how much uplighting would cost so you have something to compare it to.  When I met with Jay from Golden Gate he quoted me on uplighting but I never looked much further into it because I'm not interested in uplighting.

I am not sure how big your space is but if you don't want a totally saturated look, you might want to consider the DIY route as it is a lot less expensive. E-Wall Wash LED super bright lighting is a wireless uplight. It's really easy and safe to use. You just slide in color gels (found at Guitar Center or google online) for the color you want your uplight to be. You can also resell them after you are done too. They are a bit on the smaller size. The room my cousin used for her wedding was 2500 square feet so she used 8 of them.  She bought them mucho cheaper from another Knot bride for $48, they retail between $55-$70 depending on the quantity and site.

    Hey thanks guys.
I actually looked into DIY and found the ones your mentioned on Save on Crafts but when I posted on DIY board they thought theyd be too small.

Since Im getting married at the Towers, I only want to light up the round area bythe dance floor with white, and maybe a pale pink once dancing starts. other than that i was looking for under the table lights-- but think that might be too costly and not make a difference anyway--do guests really care after all.

Im going to check out the ones you listed from Koyal as well

Amy thanks for telling me about Jay- I havent started meeting florists yet- but hes on my list :)

i didint get the quote from Victor- he kind of breezed over that and I didint get the chance to get a quote from him, I feel like Ive been bugging him a lot lately- so maybe Ill talk to him briefly about it Sunday

They are on the smaller side but I think for what you are trying to achieve, it will work. The color gels for the uplights are also inexpensive. I know save-on-crafts has the under the table lighting too. Have you considered hanging lanterns? I thought it was really pretty when a past Knottie, Alicia had for her wedding.

Oh! Did you contact, "I Do Details", she also does uplighting for fairly affordable prices. She had a special for 10 uplights for $300 ( delivery fee depends on location) I found her on weddingwire.com

Wow, if I can get uplighting for that price I might look into it.  Thanks!

why is your DJ tellig you who can and can not do lighting at your event? He is your DJ not the venue with the rules. Is that in his contract, that you can not use some one else for lighting if they are a DJ? Personally I would stick to A DJ for your music and a lighting person for lighting. I f you only want a few lights it shouldnt be that bad in price. I had a hard time with this as well and got such a variety in pricing for lights it was crazy. After getting qoutes from about  5 or 6 places (Dj and other lighting people) I ended up with  Jack Falvey Associates. They knew what they were talking about, and I feel they were very fair priced for what I am getting. Try them!
