Vendor Reviews Pt 3

Dress:
Priscilla of Boston: D
David's Bridal:  B
I purchased a dress at Priscilla's of Boston, and loved it.  When I went in for my second alterations appointment, I was devastated; the dress had been ruined.  The back had a strange lump of fabric, the bodice top had a significant dip, the hem was uneven.  The salon ended up sending me to the factory to get the dress fixed.  Everyone was very helpful (particularly considering the announcement that Priscilla's was closing in December, which happened in the middle of all this), but I ended up making 4 additional trips to Boston to get the dress fixed.  I loved the dress, but the stress of the botched alterations, as well as the extra time and expense, was a nightmare.  For a time, I thought the dress wouldn't be fixed at all, so I ended up buying a backup dress, 4 weeks before the wedding, at David's Bridal.  The experience was OK, I found a nice Vera Wang, and I was grateful to be able to take the dress with me that day.  As it turned out, I wore both dresses-the Priscilla during the ceremony, and then the Vera Wang White at the reception.  Because of the style, the VW dress was much more light and comfortable, and fit me better too.  I was glad I had the VW to change into.

Alterations:  Sewing Creations by Rose: A
I went to Rose with less than a month before the wedding, with the dress I purchased at the last minute from David's Bridal.  I was more than a bit stressed, but she was so fantastic.  Rose is such a warm, caring person, I felt immediately better in her shop.  And her work was fantastic-the dress fit like a dream.  Her prices are very reasonable, and if I ever need a formal gown altered again, I won't hesitate to go to her.  She has a great reputation for a reason.  I can't recommend her highly enough.

Yikes, what a nightmare about your dress!!!!! That's every bride's worst nightmare, and I'm so, so sorry to hear you went through that! I'm glad to see that it all worked out. I'm sure at the time you didn't see how it could.
I am going through something similar right now. My bridal shop ordered me the wrong veil, and my wedding is this Sunday!!!! They ordered the right one a week ago and she promised me it would be in by last Friday at the latest. When I called Saturday it still wasn't in, and she promised it would be in today. I'm beyond frustrated and angry... If it isn't in tonight when I go up for my final fitting I'm going to be beside myself.
    Congratulations on being married!!

Congrats on the wedding. I am anxious to see more pro pics - especially since I really love the VW line at Db.
I am sorry to hear about your dress, and sadly, you aren't the first bride on this board to have issues with them- which may have something to do with the closing.

I am glad that despite the rain, you had a beautiful wedding!
    Congrats!

<div>Sorry to use this vendor review post for this but, regarding Dberrett's veil, I think you may be the same bride who was venting about that last week and I am so sorry to hear about that!!! Just know that regardless, you are going to be a beautiful bride and your day will be perfect.  Two things that might help:</div><div>
</div><div>1) Venus Veils on eBay:<a href="http://stores.ebay.com/venusveils"> http://stores.ebay.com/venusveils</a></div><div> I know it seems a little sketchy but I just got my veil from there on a whim (our wedding is in May but I am flying back East in 2 days for our first and only trip until the week before the wedding and wanted a veil to match against my dress).  For $30.99 with free shipping it came in 2 days and I LOVE IT.  Seriously.  It's so pretty in person.  Just a thought for a back-up in case?  </div><div>
</div><div>2)If you have Netflix, watch the wedding episode of "The Office" where Pam rips her veil.  It will make you smile.  Of course after months and months and months, and lots of money, spent planning this thing you want every single detail to be perfect.  But the most important detail is that person who will be standing by you at the end of the aisle.  And he is going to think you look perfect no matter what.  Easier advice to type than take as I am sure I would be freaking out, but try not to let it ruin your week leading up to the big day and know that everyone on here is sending you collective good vibes for a happy outcome with your veil! : )</div><div>
