Sounds like the Easton's Beach Ballroom in Newport to me!  That room will hold 250 and you can have your ceremony on the beach right on site.  :)

Atlantic Beach Club right next store might also be an option.  It's a big room and you can also have your ceremony there!

I believer there is no rental fee rate for Atlantic Beach Club, the pricing is on their website so it is very straight forward but for that many people, not sure if it is in your budget. As for my venue, the Rotunda, the rental fee for a Saturday wedding is $5, 250 and it fits 225 people not 250. You also have to bring your own caterer and buy insurance through Tulip. You do get a discount for off season and friday/sunday or weekday weddings.

We're using the Village Inn in Narragansett, and it might be worth looking into for you. We're getting married on their sundeck, which might be too small for your party. However, a good friend of my FMIL was married at the gazebo in the park next to the Towers across from the VInn two summers ago. She had about 260 people and was also on a strict budget. They then had cocktails and the reception at the VInn. My FMIL said the ceremony was beautiful and the venue was fantastic.

Just from my dealings with them so far - they've been great. Alyson, the event coordinator there, is really fantastic to work with. They are pretty flexible with their packages, so they can work with a fairly wide range of budgets and Alyson always seems to be looking for ways to keep costs down for us (we're on a tight budget, too).

We are getting married on Block Island.  Ballards is a casual beach setting and there is no rental fee, you just choose the event menu you would like for the reception.  We are getting married at the Church but most couples choose the beach right at Ballards and then host a clambake!  You can dress it up or keep it as casual as you want.
