Since it's our one month anniversary I figured I'd finally leave our vendor reviews for all of you. We planned a very low budget(in terms of RI budgets) wedding for 107 people. We were lucky enough that we ran into no problems the day of the wedding and had ALL GREAT vendors. They honestly all deserve the A+ that I gave them!! I'll be happy to answer any questions about them. Happy Planning!!
Venue- Valley Country Club: www.valleycountryclub.net A+
A hidden gem of RI!!! We had our ceremony outside on the golf course and the reception/cocktail hour inside. I had a nice bridal suite complete with restroom in order to get ready and relax before everything started. All of the guests commented on how great the food was. The bar is huge and well stocked (even with Sam Summer on tap-DH’s fav). The staff was great to work with. Melodi is the manager and is quick to respond to any emails and phone calls throughout the planning process. She has been doing this for many years and is great at what she does. They went above and beyond with several things: before the start of the ceremony more chairs were quickly added as more guests arrived than were expected to attend the ceremony, elaborate displays were setup for the cocktail hour around the hors d’oeuvres such as a rooster carved out of a cantaloupe(reminded me of the displays on a cruise ship) and illuminated tables, beautiful ceiling draping remained up from the previous event, our final bill of $12 (difference of the open soda bar bill of what was estimated & consumed) was paid off by them, and many more things. Great venue, great, food, great staff!!
Dj- Jim the Dj Guy-Jim Hislop: 781-792-3837 A+
Jim was GREAT! The dance floor was packed all night with everyone from my cousin’s 4yr old daughter to DH grandfather! He played music for both our ceremony and reception. At no extra charge to us, he drove down to RI from Hanover, MA. He brought buckets full of goodies such as hula hoops, glow sticks, village people hats for the YMCA, and boas- they were great!
Photography- On the Spot Photography- Michelle Meenagh: www.picthespot.com/ A+
Michelle did an amazing job! She made sure that she got all of my must takes and then many many more. We ended up with a great album of about 600 pics! The package that we picked gave us a complete album with each picture and written release for the pics so we can have prints made as we want, when we want. She also included a great engagement “getting to know you” session where we took some pics at Goddard Park.
Officiant- Lloyd Gariepy: 401-769-0200 A+
We opted for the traditional ceremony and vows. He did a great job of adding some meaningful excerpts. It was about a 20 min ceremony which made it seem not too rushed and not too dragged out. To show just how dedicated he is- it was HIS anniversary the day of our wedding and he still said yes to be our officiant!!!
Cake/Cupcakes- Heavenly Delights: 401-617-9220 A+
They were YUMMY!!! Amanda made us a small cutting cake that was yellow cake with chocholate buttercream(DH’s fav) topped with 2 chocolate covered strawberries (one looked like a bride complete with tulle veil and a groom). She also made us 12 dozen cupcakes in carrot cake, red velvet, boston cream, confetti, chocolate peanut butter cup, and lemon. Some were topped with cream cheese and others with buttercream some even tinted blue to match our wedding color. All in all we brought home less than a dozen so that goes to show you just how yummy they were! Delivery and setup was included. For our tasting she ended up bringing us over a dozen cupcakes to try!!! Amanda is quick with response to emailed questions throughout the planning process.
Travel Agent- Travel Advisors International: 401-725-1234 A+
Lucie Giguere helped us plan our honeymoon trip to Aruba. We ended up at the all inclusive Tamarijn Aruba and it was fabulous! I even found a better price online and she matched it for us!!
My dress was bought on ebay, BM dresses at www.spiegel.com, Flower girl’s dress at Kohls, DH’s suit at JcPenny, GM ties at www.thetiebar.com Everything else was bought off Trash to Treasure and DIYed including the flowers. Good Luck!
