My parents had an engagement party at their house.  To keep the numbers down we only invited family, wedding party and the friend who introduced us.  We had it catered and one funny memory that stands out is the caterer showing up after all the guest arrived, broke glasses in the kitchen sink and was trying to work around the guest to cook things. When all was done the food was just ok and not what we expected for the cost.  All in all it was fun and all had a good time.

I have been engaged for two years so bear with me. From what I remember we just had our family there and our godparents and kept it pretty casual since we got engaged July 2010. We pretty much had a barbecue.

Ours is scheduled for July this year.  We're having it at 1149 in EG.  It's going to be hors d''oeuvres, cocktails & dessert for about 100 people.

We just got engaged a month ago, I'm not sure if we will have one. Maybe just a cookout this summer - I'd rather save the $ for the wedding though!

My fiance and I got engaged in August 2011. We held off on an engagement party at that time because we were in full home buying mode. Now we've been engaged for almost nine months, so we don't feel it would be appropriate to have a party. My parents were interested in hosting one, but we ultimately decided against it.
