DIY Invitations

Can anyone recommend a site to get paper supplies or DIY invitation kits?

    Try:

--I have ordered many samples from here and love the quality

    http://www.mountaincow.com/
--just got a bunch of envelope liner samples in: http://www.mountaincow.com/shop.stationery.liners.html
i'll be using a patterned one to line my outer envelope. Many places don't sell this shape and it was nice to find a place that did. They're also located in Providence but not sure if they have a storefront.

--located in Pawtucket...huge selection of paper/envelopes. I got my invitation stock  here (Neenah Classic Crest, Smooth) along with the matching Neenah envelopes. I also bought a ream of turquoise metallic paper that I'm cutting to size to mat my invites. I had a local printer do all my printing, but I sized my invite and 2 inserts so that the three could fit on one sheet of 8.5x11 - very efficient use of paper!

email me at dansbride52911@gmail.com if you would like further detail on how i'm doing my invites...i might be able to offer some more guidance

I used Paper and More, I thought it was really affordable, I ordered samples of everything first and they came in just a few days and I like them all so went ahead and ordered them.  They just arrived so I haven't put them together yet.  I also got some linen cardstock at Jo-ann's to use for a background mat (I didn't need 100 sheets so it was cheaper to get just 50, and it was on sale).  I estimate that with postage, my invites will cost $200 for about 70 (I am also doing a postcard RSVP, you get 100 free for just the price of shipping at Vistaprint, and the postcard postage is less).

And checking out the DIY kits at Target, AC Moore, Micheals, etc. are worth it, my friend did all her invites for $50 (not including postage).

I second Paper and More for selection and affordability. Their customer service is also top notch.  I also love Cards and Pockets too. For tools, I recommend Tonic Guillotine paper cutter and the Glue Glider Pro and Glue Dots for adhesive use. I did have someone on Etsy custom design my invites on a pdf file which I purchased. It was the best decision we made.

Like others have suggested it is worth checking out Target, Michael's and A.C Moore for DIY invite kits. They are super affordable and some have very unique designs including letter press and thermography.

My boyfriend is talking about learning how to etch a zinc plate and print at home. We'll see how that goes. Ha ha!
But I do know that there are kits out there. I saw this one on papersource.com that looks like it could be a great alternative to my boyfriend's other crazy idea to build the press itself.
