band to fit my budget

I am searching for a wedding band that is reliable and of course, entertaining.  The trouble I seem to be running across is that I am on a budget for my wedding band of about 3.500 and I can't seem to find a band that is excellent yet still within that budget.  I've look at numerous bands and they were just okay, nothing great.  Am I better off to go with a DJ because of my budget?  Any suggestions would be a big help!

We are using a band called Blockhead and I believe that they are in your budget. The name may sound intimidating; they actually play varying like Michael Jackson to Dave Matthews. Our wedding is this weekend, but we have heard them play several times at different bars.

Hello, we are going to use "The free downloads" and we are paying exactly that price.  Our wedding is Dec 1 so it may be a bit discounted but that includes the brass section (sax) so it may be cheaper for the 5 peice band.
