Writing own ceremony

We are writing our own ceremony - my brother is going to get ordained so he can offciate at our wedding.  Any ideas on how to start the process; books, websites, articles?? TIA.

Re: Writing own ceremony

  • I'm going to be writing our ceremony soon too, and the only thing I'd like to add to PPs is to make sure that you cover the legalities ...

ie. there are certain things that must be covered in the ceremony. Check with your community to find out exactly what the officient must say to make it legal. Here there is a phrase that must be used as a part of the ceremony, in the "I now pronounce you..." part.

    Good luck!

Google can be your best friend.  Asking people you know how they created their ceremonies can't hurt either.

We cobbled our ceremony together from multiple sources:  wedding ceremony and venue websites, old and new testaments of the Bible, poetry anthologies, etc.  We took our time and added our own touches.  It took about 3 months to pull together and it was a great process.

    Enjoy!
