Wedding Album

Hi Ladies! My wedding is actually over, but we are attempting to choose the pictures for our wedding album which is showing to be very difficult. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what necessary shots to include, or how to keep the balance between formal and candid? I also looked online for some inspiration to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

Are you making a book yourself, or one through the photographer? If you're limited by how many fit in the photographer's album, just think of the most important parts of the day. You'll want a photo of you getting ready, probably a few from the ceremony, a picture of the whole bridal party, one of your families, pictures of your first dance and parent dances, then a few from the reception.

We made one ourselves, so we weren't limited on the number of pages or photos that went in. We used MyPublisher to make it (definitely recommend it). We mixed up the layout of each page, put in a mix of candid, posed, and detail photos, as well as some text like our readings from the ceremony and our vows.
I wasn't good at cutting back the number of photos... I really just used different layouts to make the less important photos smaller. Our album is like 50 pages long, but I love it.

Honestly, if you had a good photog, you should just let him do it. They know what other brides have valued and they should let you make changes to whatever they come up with. They know how to visualize the final product, how to combine the right pics together. Plus, once you see everything put together, its much easier to see what you would like to change, then to start from scratch and try to visualize the whole thing... make sense?

We plan to make two albums - one that's more arsty, and will have lots of those pages with just one photo on them.  The other will be more candid and fun.

I remember this tip from writing term papers - pick your favorites first.  If you are trying to go through and weed out the ones you DON'T like, it is a more tedious task b/c who wants to look at the ones you don't like?  If you are looking for the ones you love, it's a fun process.  I made a "favorites" album on my computer and I keep whittling them down.  From 850+ to 100 even.
