when to book?

Hiii everyone!! I'm new "again" to the boards.  I've been engaged 4 years (I'm almost 23) and we decided to hold off on getting married because we were so young.

Well now we have set a sate for 9/7/2013 (woohoo!) so it is still awhile away but I really like this date ---- soo when is it too early to book a venue?  If I was more flexible with my date, this wouldn't be an issue.

I don't think it hurts to start looking now.  This was the hardest part for us was finding a venue that we actually liked.

I would say start looking, if you find something you LOVE talk to them about your situation.  You might be able to lock in at some lower pricing booking in advance too.

    I agree with PP"s
We booked our venue (signed the contact etc) in October of 2010 for a 2012 wedding- but we started looking at venues in july of 2010.

Also, we were able to lock in at 2010 pricing :) So i suggest you look into locking in to 2012 pricing for a 2013 wedding.. or even 2011 if they haven't released new prices yet...it will def save a few bucks.

never to early to book - unless you are a fickle fanny like my cousin who changes her mind so often she lost out on two deposits. Definitely do your research though. We booked two yrs in advanced too which is great because we locked in the old rate.

    Hello fellow Rhodie Brides,

I agree!  It's never too early.  We started looking just after our engagement this past December 26 (2010) just for fun and then fell in love with our venue (The Towers). Since we decided that memorial day of 2012 would be a good date for us we knew that weekend would book quickly, especially as after speaking to The Towers we  discovered they are significantly cheaper on Sundays.  We made our initial inquiry in January and were the first to call about that weekend/get penciled in.  By the time we booked for Sunday, signed the contract, and sent our deposit in February, there was an inquiry in for Friday evening and somebody had booked Saturday. So yeah, things fill up quick and I agree that by calling many of our other vendors early we locked in 2010 or 2011 pricing for 2012 (i.e. our photographer's rates are going up by about $400 and we locked in this year's pricing).  Don't feel crazy for looking early, the early bird gets the bridal-savings-worm! : )

    Congratulations and happy planning!!!

We are getting married on December 6, 2013 and we are going to book our venue in September (the earliest we can).. we are getting the 2011 prices locked in and we know we can have our date no matter what!
