Re: Past and Present Towers Brides!

  • I am going to be at the VIllage in for hair/makeup and such, and then getting dressed in the bridal suite on the second floor of the towers. My ceremony and reception are both at the towers, so there really isn't much for transportation there. I am also doing my pictures across the street on the seawall/beach/gazebo. Then walking back to the VI. I know that other brides have rented trollys, limos or vans to go back and forth... If you need help with suggestions, let me know!
  • We are also staying at the Village Inn - we booked the "honeymoon suite" for the night before and night of the wedding so I'd have enough space for myself and my BMs to get ready. I hadn't thought of using the bridal suite in the Towers to get dressed - thanks for the thought! We are renting a trolley through Newport Trolleys (Kirtley is so easy to work with) to transport us from Village Inn to a TBD place for a meet up and pictures, take us to South Ferry Church, around for pics after the ceremony and then finally back to the Towers.

Another logistics question - is anyone doing long tables? We really want to do this because a) we're having a fairly small wedding and b) I love how it mimics the shape of the room. The problem is numbering tables. FI thinks we do escort cards with table numbers, but then actually have place cards to tell people where to sit so people don't get confused, couples can sit together, etc. Is there a way to avoid place cards?
  • Thanks ladies.
I was thinking of getting ready at hte Hampton INn, but maybe its just easier to get ready at the Village Inn.
Or I was thinking of staying at the Tower House BnB
but it seems like a lot of effort at the end of the night (paying for the limo for extra hours etc), than just walking back across the street.

I thought the furniture at the village inn suite was so strange and didn't want it in my "getting ready photos" But I guess I can just tell my photographer that.

I heard of another bride that was able to use the upstairs deck for her morning after breakfast. Has anyone inquired about this?

  • Hey Jenn,

I am also in the process of figuring out logistics!  We decided to go the rental house route which is great for pricing, space, etc. BUT means that we are faced with figuring out how to get us and our bridal party (14 of us in all) around town (up to South Ferry, beach for pics, back down to the Towers).  Most importantly, we don't want to put anyone from our party out by feeling like they can't have a good time, and a few drinks, because they have to drive around an unfamiliar town at the end of the night.

The original plan was to rent a school bus and to use it to shuttlle us around but then some of my family talked me out of it, but now I am back to thinking about it again.  The school bus is a cheaper option for us because I want to be able to have it until after the reception to get everyone home safely, so we need it for longer (thinking 2:30pm to 11pm).

I am sure we will be emailing as we figure out our logistics!  Luckily for you, you won't have too far to go at the end of the night (that's our biggest problem as of now).
