I’ve been pretty quiet on the knot for about a year and a half now but the reviews from the other girls have been so helpful because I live in New Jersey and had to book some vendors without meeting them. Overall, everything was amazing. I would recommend nearly all of my vendors to others in a heartbeat. They made my day perfect. Also, I’m going with the traditional grading system as opposed to multiple +s. Hope this helps (and sorry it is so long!).Venue: Warwick Country Club - A The Warwick Country Club isn’t talked about much on the knot but it is really a beautiful venue. I originally wanted to get married in Newport but didn’t quite have the budget for the number of people we needed to fit. The WCC was on Narragansett Bay and absolutely beautiful. The food was amazing, the room held our ~140 perfectly, and they were incredibly responsive to my many questions/changes. We also had the ceremony outside by the bay which was perfect. I was very happy with the WCC.Photographer: Gabrielle Marks Photography - A+ We had our engagement shoot with Gabby and Matt in June and knew that we had made the right decision. They are incredibly talented, taking such artistic photos that came out beautifully. We have already gotten so many compliments on their work and only a few pictures have been posted. They were everywhere and seemed to capture every moment. Loved them and can’t wait to see the rest of the photos.Cake: Sweet Sophistications - A We tried the cake at many different places and Sweet Sophistications was hands down the best. It was the only vendor where I left after the first meeting with butterflies. They also made the cake look just like the picture I had wanted. The only reason I didn’t give an A+ was because it was sometimes hard to get a hold of Roy (the owner) and that always made me a little nervous. However, the final product was amazing and everyone was talking about how good our cake was.DJ/Ceremony Musician: Aaron Topfer - A+ Aaron is a DJ based out of NH who travels around New England for weddings. He is incredibly thorough, detail oriented, and talented. He also plays the piano beautifully and played during our reception and cocktail hour. He also did a great job at the reception - the dance floor was packed all night. We were thrilled. He also booked a violinist for us for the ceremony so that was nice to have one less thing to worry about.Makeup: Kristin Greene - A+ Kristin receives tons of praise on this board and it is so well deserved. She did a fabulous job and I was so happy with my look. She was also flexible - I had changed my mind a little bit since the trial and she was on board right away and not bothered by it at all. The goodie bag is also a nice touch and I was touching up my lip stick all night.Hair: Sam C - A Sam is great. She’s super nice, flexible, and does a great job. Her prices are also amazing. We did two trials together after I wasn’t sold after the first trial and was very happy with the final look. We did run a bit over on time because we were having some issues with my hairpiece. Sam is also a really busy lady, so reaching her by phone is usually best. Officiant: Mike Egan - A We wanted to have an outdoor ceremony and after our meeting with Mike, we knew he would be perfect. He knows so much about weddings and how to get great photos (which I was moderately obsessed with). He did a great job with the ceremony and kept us all very comfortable. He was pretty hands off for the ceremony creation itself, but provided feedback when we asked for it. Flowers: Florals by Alisa - A+Loved my flowers and Florals by Alisa was so easy to work with. They were very responsive and super flexible when I was changing things in the last week. My only “surprise” was in my bouquet, where the color of some of the flowers was darker than what I had envisioned, but I think it came out beautifully and really stood out. Transportation: Sentinel Limousine - A They were on time, patient when we were late, and did a good job getting us from point A to point B. They had champagne and red carpet treatment. No complaints here.Room Block & Shuttle: Sheraton Providence Airport - C+ We ended up having a really big room block at the Sheraton of around 40 rooms and they gave us a lot of things that are not traditionally part of the package (access to the club floor, meeting room for our brunch, shuttle transportation to and from the wedding, etc.). But, we had a lot of issues with people being told that there were no rooms in the block, received push back when we wanted to add more rooms and quickly (originally blocked off 20 rooms and quickly realized it was not enough), and had some difficulty getting them to live up to the promises that were made. At the end of the day, things were very nice, but getting it to that point was definitely a challenge both before and during the weekend of the wedding. My Dress: Alexandra’s Bridal - A I had a really tough time finding a dress. I was very particular about what I didn’t want and they were very patient with me. I was thrilled to find a dress that I loved so much. I also went back several times to try it on again with different accessories and they were always very accommodating. Also had my alterations done with them and they went well too.BM Dresses: J Crew - A I wasn’t planning to write a review on the bridesmaid dresses, but just wanted to mention how flexible J Crew was when 2 of my bridesmaids ended up being 8 months pregnant for the wedding on a dress that was discontinued in my color. They were helpful in finding bigger sizes around the country, bent their return rules a bit on sale items, and just made it easier for my bridesmaids. There was also an amazing sale and the dresses were about half price since they were discontinuing my color. Tuxes: Men’s Wearhouse - B I knew it was a risk going with Men’s Wearhouse since their reviews tend to be mixed, but it was the most convenient for us because our groomsmen are all over the country. They were pretty easy to work with, but there were some mistakes (my brother’s tux didn’t fit at all and one of the groomsman was missing shoes). In the end, everything worked out fine and the guys looked great.Rehearsal Dinner: Old Grist Mill - B+ We picked the Grist Mill because the food is awesome and I have been going there for years. They were incredibly accommodating with customizing the menu, pairing wines, and making some exceptions to the typical options. We were very appreciative of this and the food was fantastic (A+ for the food). The only issue was the set up. It was not a great set up for the 40 people ar our dinner because one of the main tables was practically in a different room. We ended up moving the tables around ourselves to make it feel like everyone was part of the same group. However, the setup was still not ideal at the end of the day.Invitations: Wedding Paper Divas - A- I agonized over the invitations for months and finally decided on Modern Whimsy from Wedding Paper Divas. They came out great and the prices were good. Only issue was that one of the edits that I made and later approved did not make it through to the final printing. Luckily, I had ordered everything with enough time for them to quickly reprint and resend (all within a couple of days), but it could have been an issue had I procrastinated. Honeymoon: Grand Velas, Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico booked through Liberty Travel: A+ The honeymoon was just amazing and wanted to throw a quick plug for anyone planning a wedding during hurricane season. I wanted a place that was essentially hurricane proof with a beach and all inclusive. The hotel was just amazing and we had a perfect, relaxing honeymoon. Would definitely recommend it. Liberty Travel was also fantastic in finding the hotel and great deal that we got. They set things up wonderfully.
