Rehersal Dinner in Narragansett?

We are getting married at the Towers next Fall and looking for a spot for our rehersal dinner. We will have about 20-30 people, and all will be from out of town and dont know the area.
We are staying away from the Coast Guard House (had terrible service and food the last time we went), but do like Trio and Spain.  Any other recomendations that are in the area?

We are having our rehearsal dinner at Mariner Grille... they have a private room upstairs.  I don't have too much to do with it, as my FMIL is taking care of the plans, but we go there a lot and really enjoy the food.
Other spots would be Spain, Turtle Soup, Simons at Charlios (more casual), Aurturo Joes, Lillianas

We had ours at The Spain and it was the best!

LOVE turtle soup...if I wasn't having so many ppl I would definitely book there - food is great. I had my graduation party there with about 30 ppl. they have a small room to the right when you walk in. would also be great for any of your guests staying at atlantic house or the inn attached with turtle soup...can't think of the name right now...b/c it's all within walking distance. right now, our rehearsal dinner is at CG house - but I am not happy with the set up or the menu they presented. we are looking to change. someone else recommended sardella's which I thought would be a great idea - but FMIL said she didn't like it. soooo if you have any ideas for over in middletown or newport, that would be great. good luck!

I second turtle soup, they have a great menu there.
We are also scouting places for a rehearsel dinner

we love the red stripe in providence, but i heard the one in Narragansett is not good at all- and also is in a funky spot.

I would consider auturo joes also. or trattoria romano in wakefield (likely, where our dinner will be!)

also- on a side note, i know its really casual but you could consider caseys
there is a private room, which i thought was weird at first- then i saw it. Its actually completely private from the rest of the restaurant

i2012 - red stripe in narragansett isn't that good. I haven't been to the providence one, but the one in narr. always looks closed - there is no one in there. I've eaten at romana and love it - where would they do a rehearsal dinner there? or would you rent out the whole restaurant? I suggested casey's and everyone thought I was nuts!! I think it would be fun!

Would Jamestown be too far for you? Trattoria Simpatico is amazing and all local food. Really quaint spot, too! Or Meritage in East Greenwich is also amazing, but again could be too far. Sorry, I don't know Narry too well...
You might want to plan to go to the Bridal Show at the Towers this winter. I went last year and there are TONS of vendors from the area that show up so that might also give you other ideas.

@URI - She shot down Sardella's?!?! Who doesn't like Sardella's? Sorry, that's just a really foreign concept to me... LOL!
OK well there's The Moorings, 22 Bowen's, Busker's, Canfield House, Safari Room (OceanCliff) for other ideas. Busker's, if you don't know it, is an Irish Pub but I believe you can rent out the whole top floor for something fun and different! The others I mention are on the nicer side. Are you looking for nicer? Maybe you should start another thread lol... With 22 Bowen's you'll have parking issues, though. Moorings, Canfield, and Safari Room all have their own parking. Safari room is a drive, though.

Ladies, Red Stripe in Narragansett IS open and is under new management since April or May.  I've been a few times since the re-opening and thought it was good.

Does Spain in Gansett have a separate function room? Because i love it there, but i hate the acoustics upstairs- it gets SO loud you can barely hear who you are eating with.

I am not sure about Trattoria South, actually, because I have never been in. There is one in Lincoln as well, and we always go there- and they have the ability to have three private funcctions because they have three separate function spaces. I didn't realize that the South one is one big room?

Good to know that about Red Stripe in Narr. We love Red Stripe in Providence.
The location is still weird though- nothing in that space does well.

@ URI Sweetheart- I too thought a function at Caseys would be werid. but when we were there for homecoming and went there was a rehearsel dinner going on. The function room has its own separate entrance too I think- it is completely separate. it was totally casual but it looked nice all set up. And I can never get enough of their waffle fries!

dberrett - TOTALLY shot down sardella's! I was SHOCKED! thought it would be perfect. she totally surprised me by being like, we always eat italian - it's so predictable - that's what our family always eats - let's do something different. I was like OK?! I get it, I guess! works for me! so, yes, we are looking into other places...I like the busker's idea - that would be different, haha!
i2012 - yes the trattoria romana in wakefield is like one big room - not sure how that location would do rehearsal dinners. the food is great. I haven't been to the lincoln location. You could always call and ask...you may have to rent out the whole space. I agree about location of red stripe, it is def in a weird spot. the more I think about casey's the more I like the idea! we may scratch the newport idea (see my earlier posts) all together and go there! I don't want super fancy both nights anyways...now if my FMIL will go for it..... ;)
    thanks all!

Maharaja is an Indian place in Narragansett that has delicious food, but I'm not sure if you are against Indian.  They do have a private room, if I am remembering correctly.

I know they don't have a private space, but we are going to have our rehearsal dinner at Mews. It's such a fun atmosphere and I'm sure our guests will love it.
