I need help planning!

Hi!! This is my first post on here!! I just got engaged in July, and we are starting to plan our wedding now! We aren't getting married until December 2013 (want to be done with grad school), but I always plan things WAY early.  I want to have a Christmas-themed wedding, because I am a Christmas fanatic, but I can't find much about these type of weddings on here.  I am so excited to start planning, so if anyone has any good ideas, if you could please help I would love it.  Thanks so much!! Hi and WElcome to the board. I don't know how many winter brides we have here- but we sure have a ton of ideas and are willing to help.

Also, have you tried your month boarD( since its 2013 you won't have a ton of people there maybe so try the december 2012 boards)

Also, try google searching "winter weddings" and I am sure a plethera of images will appear.

Have you started to think about venues yet?  If you have a "kind" of venue in mind (near the water, hotel, etc.) the girls on here may be able to help you more.  And I second the idea of checking out your month board.  I have found that to be an extremely helpful resource.

Welcome and congratulations!!! There are so many ways to go with a Christmas-themed wedding! Do you know if you want to go with a red and green theme or more of a white/snow theme?  Something fun that you can consider is having your bridesmaids carry muffs instead of flowers....if you're okay with being a little less traditional!  I also PM'ed you with several more ideas...feel free to get in touch if you're interested!  Happy planning!!!

I would suggest looking at venues now, since it's wintertime you'll get an idea for what they will be like. I had a long engagement, and thats what I did! A lot of places look pretty on the summer, but when you go see them in the winter are not as thrilling bc their grounds are not well kept, and they don't have any place inside to take photos! I am getting married in January '12 at the Quidnessett and I have heard they are beautiful at Christmas!

I am actually looking into Quidnessett.. I looked on their website and it looks like they decorate really nicely for Christmas! Thank you all so much for your advice!

i am planning a winter wedding as well.  I would definitely suggest looking around now to see what winter venues look like... maybe even go to as many christmas parties as you can this year to see other locations too :).  I was originally going to do the Christmas seaon as well and my thoughts were Providence because of the city lights .  I was considering the Biltmore because of looking down at the skating rink and being in the heart of Providence during the Holidays.

Another great spot around Christmas is Linden Place in Bristol http://www.lindenplace.org/wedding_photo.htm Their springtime weddings are most beautiful, but the mansion itelf is gorgeous... check out their staircase for photos.  Also, it is in the heart of historical downtown Bristol and the whole area is very festive with Christmas lights.  The only problem is i think the max capacity with the ballroom only is 130, but check it out and ask the experts :)

OH and Glen Manor in Portsmouth!!  Capacities are also limited here in the winter, which you will find is a common thing
