Clambake Rehearsal Dinner

I know I just wrote about Rehearsal Dinner suggestions in Newport for 50 people and a budget of 5k. Well, it turns out we are now inviting our entire guest list on that same budget (my mother in law is hosting and there was some confusion re: numbers, etc) Now, with 100 people and a budget of 5k my options become a lot more limited. I want a typical Newport experience since this is an out-of-town wedding for everyone (including groom and I). Originally we were leaning towards a steak dinner at 22 Bowens because it was a restaurant on the harbor, but now with our number of guests and budget, it's not doable. So, I was thinking about doing something more casual like a clambake or something. My wedding is Columbus Day weekend of next year- will it be too cold to do this? Has anyone had a clambake and can tell me about prices etc?
Thanks!

I am using B and M Clambake out of Pawtucket for our rehearsal dinner.  We are hosting it at our house.  They are bringing everything down to the trash bags and taking it with them when they leave.  They customize the entire menu for you and there are tons of choices.  We are not doing a traditional clambake (lobster, etc.) but are doing clamcakes, chowder, steamers, chicken, corn on the cob, a couple of salads, hot dogs, hamburgers, and dessert for around $40ish per person I think.  Mickey is the contact there and he is great to work with.

Great; thank you. Do you know if they have a location? Since we are all from out of town, we don't have a place we can host. If they don't have a venue, do you know if there are any public/free places we could host a clambake. Also, anyone ever try Kempenaar? They seem to have good prices and do everything at their venue.

They don't have a venue, but if you call them, they should definitely be able to suggest something.  I'm not a Newport bride, so I don't know of any public places that would work down there.  Sorry!

I think all you need is to get a permit from the town. As long as it is a public beach. I have been to a clam bake in Narragansett at Roger Wheeler, and there were other people on the beach that were not part of the party. Hope this helps

Kempenaar's! Its not on the water, but its not far. Its behind the Shaws Plaza in Middletown.
They do large parties, and rehearsal dinners. I haven't been there personally, but when I lived nearby, I heard that was the place to go for Clambakes.

    Here is the link.......
