Newport/Belle Mer Brides - I need some hair advice

I am having my wedding on September 11, 2010 at Belle Mer - I NEVER wear my hair up but was thinking for my wedding to do my hair half up with loose curls... I have been told it is too windy at Belle Mer to do this and that I should have a full updo... I am torn because I really don't like how I look with an updo but I don't want the wind to blow my hair down or for me to be playing with it all night... Does anyone have advice?

I was a Belle Mer bride and I wore my hair all up but for other reasons than the wind.  My hair does not hold a curl well so it would have just looked limp by the end of the night.

It does get very windy at Belle Mer.  With that said, it was not windy the night that we got married so my veil did not blow around and if my hair had been half down I don't think that would have been an issue.

Our officiant told us that he has been to many weddings at Belle Mer where it was so windy the bride's veil blew off.  I knew this going in and was prepared to not wear my veil but everything was fine.

Could you make the decision that day?  If you are getting ready at the Hyatt you will be able to tell what the wind is going to be like.  If it is super windy I would really suggest wearing it all up.

Our ceremony is at Fort Adams on the law, super super windy and I'm doing 1/2 up 1/2 down - I just don't like my hair all up and I'm not sacraficing how I like my hair for the sake of wind.  I also have my hairstylist following me all day so I'm not worried about touch ups.

The thing to be worried about though is your hair flying in your face during the ceremony.  How annoying would it be to have to keep moving your hair out of your mouth while trying to say your vows!!!  Our officiant told us that he sees this all the time at Belle Mer and that it makes things really uncomfortable for the bride.  Just some food for thought!!

I had a friend who got married at Belle Mer last Sept- Labor day weekend.  She wore her hair half up, half down and she looked beautiful.  From what I can tell, she did not have any hair blowing issues and it was not too windy.  It was a little chilly but not windy when we were sitting outside.  Hopefully that helps!

Can you ask your stylist to do something that would allow you to take part of it down for later?  That way you could have it up and out of the way for the ceremony but still take it down partially for pictures and reception?

I just got married there and there was some wind. I had my hair half up and found I wasn't fiddling with it at all. The only thing I was, was my veil, but I had a cathedral length veil.

One bit of advice is wear your hair how your comfortable. You want to feel comfortable. Also, I was so caught up in the moment, that if my hair was flying around ( which it looks like it was from pictures ) I didn't even notice. :)

I got married 8/8 at Belle Mer and it was pretty windy. I had my hair fully up with a veil and the veil was all over the place. It added some lightness to the ceremony, but if things flying in your face is going to bug you, you should go fully up.
