Rehearsal Luncheon

Hi all.
Wondering if anyone has done a rehearsal luncheon.
Fi's parents offered to pay, but now said they can't for the rehearsal. My parents said they would pay, but it means cutting our wedding budget elsewhere. Or, we are obvisously willing to pay as well, but don't want to spend $1500 on a dinner with wine and beer etc.

We thought a brunch or lunch might help us save on the costs plus the costs of liquor etc.

Has anyone thought of doing this? How did it work out?
Any suggestions on places in South County?

Re: Rehearsal Luncheon

  • That's so unfortunate that his parents can't afford to pay for the rehearsal anymore. How frustrating! You could limit expenses by just doing open wine and beer and soda, or just open bar for the first hour. My hubby's parents did just wine and beer.
What day would your rehearsal be?
One of my hubby's friends did their rehearsal at a state park. They booked a cute gazebo for some nominal fee. Then they just brought their own beer and wine and pizza! And his mom made baked ziti and an aunt brought cake. They brought a stereo for some music and it was a super laid back, fun evening. Just a thought!

  • thanks! We have already cut back our wedding from full open bar, to open bar for the first hour then only beer and wine after.
WE are also buying all our own booze to help with the costs.

For the rehearsal I am def. only thinking beer and wine, anyway.
The rehearsal would be a Friday night in August.

My mom is totally against doing anything where we have to cook or provide anythign (so annoying) so doing something that is set up ourselves is out.

My bm already told me thatunless its a rehearsal dinner her and her fiance can't make it (they are both int eh wedding) because they can't get time off from work. but the point of the day is really the REHEARSAL so i mean, if she can't make the dinner until after work, she can't make our 3:00 rehearsal anyway (we can't have it later, ther eis another wedding at 5:00 at the church), so i don't mind saving the cost of two people that were only going to attend the dinner and not the actual rehearsal anyway....

I;m trying to brainstorm fun affordable places in south county now for the rehearsal, and I'm stuck.
