gifts for each other?

hi all,
just wondering if anyone is exchanging wedding gifts with their FI. and if so, when are you? rehearsal? day of?
i only ask because FI and I have talked about it, but I don't think either one of us want to haha. We are trying to save for a house and are also going on our big honeymoon to Hawaii in January.
any thoughts on gift exchange?
We both have already done gifts for our bridal party - girls and guys - and I got my parents gifts for basically paying for the whole wedding :) i am SO grateful to them!
thanks all! hope everyone is doing good-on a side note- met and dropped my dress off with rose last night.
loved her!
65 more days wow!!

Re: gifts for each other?

  • We are paying for the wedding, so that is basically our gift to each other! :)
  • We decided we wanted to do a small meaningful gift to one another. Our spending limit was $50. And it could be anything, We are having them delivered to each other the morning of the wedding.
I bought fiance a book thats like the love story abotu dinasaurs, it used to be at Urbana dn I can't remember where I found it... but it was on sale somewhere

and then i got him a pair of cuff links with daschunds in them... because we have a minature doxie who basically runs our life.

All in all i spent just around $50

I have heard rumors that fiance is going to get me "all my favorite things"  that remind him of me.. from a bridesmaid. Like an iced chai from starbucks, a alex and ani bracelet, a pair of flip flops for the honeymoon, etc
but im not sure if he has thought that hard, or if thats what she suggested to him!

see i love the sort of gift basket idea-
i would need to think hard about what to put in there though-
im sure if i really thought about it - I could get some good items.
    thanks!!
  • I think it's a really sweet gesture! However, like you, we were saving for a house when we got married (that we're buying this week!!!!). So we wanted to keep costs to a minimum. We paid for the honeymoon, so that was our gift to each other.
Maybe instead you guys could just write letters to each other to be delivered to each other the morning of the wedding? Talk about how much you love them blah blah blah lol. Cute and sentimental and best part - FREE! :-)

  • love the letter idea -
    very cool -
thanks girls! this has been tough - and normally, we would just say oh lets just do something on the honeymoon for a gift - like a massage or somthing, but we arent going away til january - so thats our christmas gift idea :) aka no christmas gifts this year.
which is kinda good cuz FI is SOOO hard to buy for! as most guys are

  • I got my husband a picture frame with an engagement picture in it.  We left 2 days after the wedding for our honeymoon, but what about getting a couple's massage at a local place like a week or 2 after the wedding for each other?  Like celebrating your 1 week anniversary as husband and wife.  That way you get to enjoy the gift with each other and have a mini-vacation at the spa.

  • I got H a new laptop and he got me a ruby and diamond bracelet that I wore on our wedding day.  We decided to do more extravagant than we originally planned because we hadn't done Christmas gifts in a few years.  We also wrote cards to each other.  I gave his gift (which was just the computer mouse) and card to his best man and H gave mine to my MOH to be opened on the morning of the wedding.

  • My husband and I decided against gifts for each other due to the money we were already putting into the wedding...but...still wanted to do a little something.  Therefore, the week of the wedding, to take our minds off the craziness that surrounded it, we went for a couples massage and dinner...it was a way for us to treat ourselves to a nice day/night together and we considered it our wedding gift to each other.
  • I would do cards for each other and then maybe postpone gifts like watches and jewelry to celebrate your 1 year anniversary. =)
