Surprise Weddings

I’m guessing you heard about the bride who had the surprise wedding. If not, her then-fiance planned everything; along with finding the perfect dress. The bride was in total shock, but loved the idea. The same thing happened to someone in our office! So here's my question for you:

Re: Surprise Weddings

  • I am 100% type A, so ABSOLUTELY no way would I like a surprise wedding.  The planning is the fun part for me!
  • I'd probably pass out. I was pretty sure my FI was the one when on my first birthday after we started dating, he gave me flowers at dinner, and said he had thought of surprising me outside my apartment on my way to work with them, but then remembered that that's not something I do everyday, and it would probably throw me off. While I probably wouldn't have freaked over something that small, I think the fact that he knew me that well was far more romantic than if he had actually done it.

Also, if my Fi planned the wedding we'd have mac and cheese, a sheet cake, and my dress would probably be black.

  • There's a show called Mobbed - look at this video - it's about 15 minutes long but it is AMAZING and no other proposal/wedding could top it.

  • The surpise wedding is the great fun.  I think that half of the fun of a wedding is in planning out how you want things and then seeing "your" creation come to life. Even if he did a good job, it still took the joy of planning from her.
  • I like surprises... but NOT for my wedding !!
  • No way that anyone takes wedding planning away from a bride....just a bad, bad idea.  I've done numerous weddings that were surprises to the guests; I have two for New Years, and I LOVE that idea! But I think this was a bad call, no matter how happy she seemed at the time.
