WeddingStories Videography-any updates?

Hi Ladies,

I apologize for posting 900 times about this, but I wanted to see if anyone had any updates on the WeddingStories situation.  It has now been exactly 6 months since my wedding today and I still haven't heard anything.

I'm just not sure what to do now.  I'm really feeling like I'm never going to see my wedding video....

I booked John for my June 25th wedding last July.  So back about a month ago, I emailed John to give me a call bc I wanted my deposit back after reading such horrendous things in the past few months about him.  I also knew that one of my friends just had a really terrible experience w/ him too.

He responded right away to my email!  He told me to call him,  he needed some advice from me (totally weird).  I called him right away, got vm.  I then sent him an email back stating I just called him.  He then again responded right away!!!  He said, I'm sorry, I'm in the middle of an online project w/ my son, can I call you later.  4 weeks later...NO CALL.

I'm now taking legal action to try to get my deposit back which I'm sure I won't but I'm hopefull.  I'm just so sad for the brides out there like you, who he has filmed and you have no video.  It's apalling!!

FWIW, Kristin Greene just posted on Facebook that one of her brides just heard from him. He said that he took on too much and he's hired someone to help him process the videos.

I didn't book him or anything but I thought I'd pass along the info that she just posted. I guess a lot of her brides used him for their weddings.

I'm in a similar situation to Brandi. We booked him for our Dec. wedding and got nervous the week before the wedding so we hired someone else. He also got back to me immediately when I called him and told him we didn't need him and I cancelled his final payment. He also promised me and our planner the deposit back. So far nothing. I emailed and called him the other day and he hasn't responded. I'm sure I'll never see the $ but I will continue to haunt him.

Oh, dear... I haven't look at these boards in a while. I got married in Oct. and still haven't heard anything from John. I thought it was just me. I know the photog he used (John didn't shoot my wedding, he used a freelancer) and I just sent him a message on Facebook, so hopefully he'll give me more details, as well...

    Hi Ladies,

I'm actually the one that Kristin Greene referred to in her facebook post.  John called me on Friday morning.  He apologized profusely and told me that he took on way more than he could handle on his own this past summer.  He said that he got extremely behind.  He said that he knows that it's not an excuse for not calling people back, but he's trying to turn everything around now.  He said that he has hired some people to help him and that every bride will receive their video.  He said that his new staff will be calling all of his brides starting on Monday.  He did not give me a timeline as to when I should expect my video, but he assured me that I will absolutely be able to reach him and that he will return all messages.

I'll let you all know if I hear anything else...

    Hi Dana,

Thanks for sharing.  Unfortunately, it seems that John is not telling the truth.  I've spoken with 3 other couples that received a call from John towards the end of January.  He gave them the same story...took on too much work, was really sorry, promised he'd get the videos out and that he had hired someone to help and reach out to all the couples (he promised that would happen the following Monday).  It's now been over a month since then and John has disappeared again.  The supposed person he hired has not made any calls, and John has gone back to not answering his phone or returning people's messages.  Seems like he is just continuing to lie to everyone and buy himself more time.  He also gave each of those couples a firm date that he promised to get them their video by.  But those dates have passed and no one has received their video.

Hopefully he does give you a call back, so please let us know if he does.

He is still paying his advertising fees on the knot.com....  Has anyone contacted them to let them know what is going on?
  • Hello,
I used John for my wedding July 22 of this year. A few months before the wedding It was very difficult to meet with him or get a response. He finally called back a week before the wedding and apologized. The day of the wedding, he was there at the beginning to collect the remainder of his money, and he was gone.
My package was with JOHN. He should have been there the whole day. I have not been able to get in touch with him AT ALL since the wedding,  I figured he was busy and needed more time, but now that I am seeing all these reviews, I am thinking and hoping I was  not scammed..

I did a lot of research, because having a videographer for this day was so important to us.  I met with him twice, and really liked his work. This is very unprofessional.

Please share any info you have to help know what to do next.

    Thanks
