New Here!

Hi my name is Vanessa and I just got engaged a week and a half ago! I am so excited to start the wedding planning!

The only question I have is we are touring a venue tomorrow and I was wondering what should someone wear to one of these tours, and can we take pic's of the venue? I know to bring a pen and a notebook. Is there anything else we should bring?

I have always dressed business casual for any of my meetings with vendors/venues.  Since it is summer, a nice sundress and cardigan would work well too.  I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to take pictures but of course ask just to be safe.  If you are going to bring a notebook maybe you should write down any questions you might have so that you don't forget anything.  I know I had a million questions in my head and pretty much forgot to ask.  Luckily I was with my mom and my sister and between the two of them they asked more questions than I did.  Another good thing to have is the checkbook.  It is always a good thing to have when meeting with vendors in case you want to put a deposit down right there.  Good luck with your venue search!

    Welcome!

There's certainly no dress code for most of these venues (not sure what you are looking at), but as with most things, the more professional you dress, the better you are usually treated.

Definitely bring a list of your questions.  You will likely also get some flyers and hand outs, so bring something to help organize those.

Typically you can take pictures, but again, not sure the type of venue you are looking at tomorrow.  Public places you can definitely take pictures, if you're going the mansion or museum route, definitely ask and be prepared that you may not be allowed.  In either case, they should be able to send you images of the venue set up for an event.

    Have fun!

    Welcome!
I dressed business casual--granted I got engaged in the winter so I was typically wearing a coat. I brought along a list of questions written in a small notebook. We didn't take pictures, but that's because we viewed the venues in the winter and we were planning on getting married in the early fall. Good luck!
