Belle Mer/Ocean Cliff Brides

hi all,

recently got engaged and checked out belle mer and oceancliff today for oct/nov 2012.  both were super amazing but i couldn't help but fall in love with belle mer salon - the modern all white glamour was absolutely breathtaking! fiance and I are paying for this ourselves and are kind of on a budget, and with a 15k price difference Ocean Cliff seems like our wallet's obvious choice, but its hard to say no to belle mer as it is absolutely my vision/dream/new obsession. are there any belle mer and ocean cliff brides either still planning or recently married out there that could sway my decision in either direction?

thanks!

I got married at Belle Mer last summer and I can't say enough wonderful things about them and our wedding.  Everything was flawless and amazing.  People still talk about our wedding all the time and how ridiculous it was.  A lot of that had to do with the Belle Mer staff, event coordinators, etc. and of course the venue itself is just incredible.  I know that doesn't help your wallet!

My husband and I were married at Oceancliff in June and are so happy with our decision. At Oceancliff they give you AMAZING service and the venue is simply georgeous both inside and out. We turned our wedding into a wedding weekend by renting the gatehouse at Oceancliff the night before the wedding for our bridal party and had our rehearsal dinner at the Safari room at Oceancliff. its been over a month and I am still getting compliments on my wedding. I think Belle Mer is a different type of location that will give you a different wedding experience then Oceancliff. Oceancliff is classic Newport at a beautiful mansion.

How many people did you have at Oceancliff? I worry it might seem crowded?

To echo what Abercrombie said, I think that you really need to decide what type of wedding you want - traditional or modern.  We looked at Oceancliff and while it is very nice, it was totally not our style at all and we were able to knock it off our list immediately.  The wedding you plan will be very different based on which of these venues you pick.

Belle Mer & Ocean Cliff are so different. I looked at both. Ocean cliff is more classic, romantic, older. Belle Mer is more modern, young, hip. All depends on what your preference is. We booked at Belle mer and are getting Married there in 3 weeks. We are so excited.

I'm getting married at OceanCliff in May 2012 and couldn't be happier with the decision. I also liked Belle Mer from pictures I saw online but, the prices were too much for us since we are paying for the wedding ourselves too. OceanCliff was the first place we looked at and the last, as soon as we walked in and saw the place we were in love and knew that was the place for us. After I read abercrombie's review of OceanCliff it made me look forward to my wedding day even more!

I am getting married at the Oceancliff this November 12th. I also looked at the Belle Mer and fell in love with the place but not the pricing. I also did not like the fact that at Belle Mer unless you were willing to spend a bunch of money they treated you like you were wasting their time.  I have had a wonderful experience with Ocean Cliff. We live in NY and are having about 115 guests up to Newport for my wedding weekend. We are also doing a brunch in the safari room on Sunday for our guests before they leave.  My suggestion is the OceanCliff they do a fantastic wedding for a much more reasonable price. I rented out the entire estate for the weekend so some of my guests can stay right on the premises, but I also blocked out rooms at the Viking hotel and Marriott. Whatever you choose, it will be the most amazing day of your life. Congrats and good luck.
