Hair and Makeup in Newport

Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations for hair / makeup salon in the Newport area. 

Both my wedding and rehearsal dinner will be in Newport, RI, so the maids and I will be spending the night before the wedding in Newport and do not want to travel off the island to get our hair / makeup done.

We will be staying at the Hyatt, and I have looked into their spa packages for bridal parties, but I thought their prices were on the absurdly expensive side.

My normal hair stylist is located in North Providence, RI and unfortunately she is unwilling to travel on a Saturday.

The wedding is in 8 months, and since Newport is such a busy wedding town in the summer, I think the appointments should be made ASAP.

Any advice / recs you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

I was married on Goat Island too at Regatta Place.  Please do not use Maura Hession (makeup artist) if anyone recommends her.  I can give you more details about that if needed.  I recommend Lori at wavelengths Salon for hair. She did an amazing job with my hair and is so sweet.  Very talented.  The salon does make-up too.  GL

Before I started going to New Leaf in Bristol I tried out Curl up and Dye on Broadway in Newport for a formal event. I can't remeber the name of the girl who did my hair but I was VERY satisfied. I had highlights and an updo done. I also remember thinking that I liked what the rest of the stylists were doing as well.

I know theres a place on broadway called apothecary that does makeup...I haven't personally been there, but it looks really cute inside, might be worth checking out. Also, I had my hair and makeup done for my e-pics at frank antonio salon on bellvue. I believe they have gotten mixed reviews on here but I was happy with my experience there...only thing is the salon is pretty small, depending on how big your bridal party is, might be a little tight. I got married in Newport this year and Jenny Kay Murphy did my hair and make up. My bridesmaids and I got ready at the Harborside Inn so Jenny met us there that morning. She did an amazing job and is highly recommended. I can email you pics if you'd like.

Try Chanda Sek. She does an amazing job and her rates can't be beat. However, she does book quickly. I know she does have a minimum of 3 people but her prices include travel. A hair trial at the salon in Providence is $35 for updo.
