Ouch- under attack

So I have to post this here to get it off my chest (and perhaps warn people!)In our 11th hour we are looking for a videographer for our ceremony- I just want our ceremony on tape basically, no editing, whatever! So, I decided to post on craigslist under gigs what we were looking for, the date, and that we were on a budget (no dollar value specified). This is the email I got back this morning: Bnm12033@aol.com: "God,  another cheap slob looking for something for nothing............................I suggest you sit on your front porch and wait for your stimulus check from our boob prez"Now, I know I shouldn't take this to heart, and I know I have to ignore and delete- but really? Why are some people in the world so mean? I googled the email address PRAYING it was going to be attached to some videographer, and then I was going to post to the heavens not to hire the guy, but I only found other rants of his on craigslist, so it seems like someone who just trolls for posts to garner mean responses. Grrr. Not a nice way to start the day...

Well,, the funny thing here is that most likley the person that posted that and so many others is the cheap slob looking for something for nothing and waiting for his welfare check.  Sorry, not a good way to start out the day.  Craigslist is a great source though.  I don't know what your budget is or where you are, but I am in rochester and I found a great guy and perhaps he would be willing to work with you on your budget.  Email me if you want the info...  chipperberg at yahoo dot com Good luck

Wow I can't believe someone who takes the time to troll craigslist looking for things to complain about is trying to insult you! BTW any luck finding a videographer?  It's not in our budget right now but I may change my mind about that over the next year.

Lol! That would have pissed me off too.  What a crappy way to start the day. Good luck with a videographer though :)

Well- I'm glad I'm not alone! I forwarded it to FI and he's all ready to wage email warfare:-) I said it's not worth it! No luck yet. I did have a sweet woman respond that she has a personal camcorder she loves to tinker with and would love to be a backup recorder:-) I guess she balances out the nut job...

Ugh, that's ridiculous and would have got to me too.  I guess you just have to laugh and feel a little sorry for this sad person. :-( Anywho...I'm thinking I want the same thing - ceremony taped "just to have" but nothing fancy.  I think my brother has a video recorder and tri-pod, so he might get it set up for me, and I'll have someone (if not him) be the on/off switch person.  That way it's free, and we'll still have some kind of recording.  Good luck!

If you are looking for something simple, what about contacting a local college? They might have a film department or student who would be willing to do it for you. Just a thought.

How crummy!   I don't know if we're hiring a videographer yet, but I had met a father/son duo from Powers Media (based in Waterford) at a bridal show, and they seemed pretty good and also willing to work within different budgets.  They might be worth checking into!  GL

Thanks for all the info ladies! I'm checking all of the possible resources, but it might well end up being a camcorder on a tripod and an uncle pressing "RECORD" I honestly want to be able to watch it back once, and probably never again! I'm more of a photo gal...

hey becks - we are actually using the guys from Powers Media.  They seem really nice.  My mom picked them (the DVD was her big thing), but I liked the sample stuff they showed us.  I'll have a review after the wedding in a month!

Sorry about the rude start to your day! Here is the website of a videographer based out of Rochester, they do ceremony and reception, no editing for $895. They might do ceremony only if you ask. HTHhttp://www.moonlitmemories.com/video.html
