i know! i've gone over to the nest and haven't really been on here much! erlowest was gorgeous(the venue itself) but we had so much trouble with the owners that I would never personally recommend it. From what I've heard they are now doing their own weddings not through glen sanders anymore and glen sanders was the best part of the whole thing. If you have any questions for me at all page me on here! id be happy to answer :)

Yes I booked them after they had split with Glen Sanders (new owners).  I just want to get an idea of the problems  you faced so I can try to be prepared.  We've already booked there so there's no going back at this point.  How was the food?

Hi Lauren...my best friend is getting married there this month and has echoed your thoughts about the owners...is there any advice you can give her?  The place is absolutely stunning...but she is so worried that they are going to mess something up royally! Thanks for any help!

For us, our wedding was June 20 (right before "in season" rates). When we went the first time she told us it would only be a one night minimum. We had a lot of out of town family, vendors etc that needed to stay at the inn and at the townhouses. We were also planning on closing down the restaurant bc they told us it would be $5000. Well the next time it was now considered "inseason" with inn rooms costing 350-500 dollars PER a night and we now had to pay for a 2 night minimum and the restaurant was going to cost 10000 to close-WHAT??? we were trapped :( well one month before the wedding we look at clipper magazine and see rooms costing about 250 (including breakfast & DINNER!!!) okay so I stay calm and figure maybe that they mean weekdays. Well I call Cheryl the owner and I don't say who I am but that I am interested in booking the weekend of June 20th- would there be a 2 night minimum? Cheryl proceeds to tell me no that it is one night minimum. Well I flip and call the wedding planner & the wedding coordinator at glen sanders. Susan Baker the coordinator called Cheryl and Cheryl blatantly lied to Susan saying she never said that. I would've been relieved to have heard Cheryl say that there was still a two night minimum PLUS i hate drama so i would never just make this up out of nowhere. She then lowered our prices but refused to take off the two night minimum. There is no good way to deal with it besides smile and look at the positives.. I was just so hurt that she thought she could take advantage of us, specifically my dad who was paying for the whole thing. Also- our wedding was June 20 2009 and she made us PAY for one night of the rooms by APRIL 1 2008!!!!!!! who does that???The food was catered by glen sanders which was absolutely phenomenal- i have nothing bad to say about glen sanders- all positives. Since you have already booked erlowest- be thankful for the absolutely gorgeous venue and I am sure everything will be perfect!! Our guests couldn't believe that this was on Lake George- not many people had heard of it!I'm so sorry that was so long but it's hard to explain why I felt betrayed by the owners without being explicit. Cheryl was always cordial though when we met with her so that was good I guess and in the end we had a great wedding it just cost about the same as a destination wedding which was frustrating.

Oh ok thanks so much for sharing.  We already decided not to try to have our guests stay there.  Too expensive and she told us there was a two night minimum when we first booked.  She said they would waive it for the bride and groom only.  She did seem a bit rude to me but the place looks amazing and I love Lake George.
