Lake George girls, who are your vendors?

Now that we're almost positive on the location, I'm trying to figure out the other vendors. Who are you guys using?

Thanks! I don't know if I've received information from Matt Ramos yet. Oh and if you have your rehearsal dinner on the Adirondac, if you haven't toured it yet, it's really nice. The food is supposed to be very good too.

Oh that's good to know.  We're trying to figure out if we can afford it.  Either there or a section of the Lac du San Sacrement.  We went up and took a cruise on the Adirondac a few weekends ago.  Here's a pic: My cousin had a welcome cruise on the Horicon for her wedding a couple years ago so I'm totally stealing her idea but it was so much fun.  I don't think they let you rent the Horicon in July though.  :-(

I looked at the email I got from Ashley in the office just a minute ago and for the Horicon, it looks like you might be able to charter it in July. It's $2000 in season to charter it for two hours and then $700 for each additional hour. Of course on the Adirondac, you can do a private banquet on the 2nd deck on a regular dinner cruise and that saves a ton of money over chartering the entire boat. The boat charter rate to start in season is $3200. Needless to say, because we're a small party, if this is the route we go, we're going to do a private 2nd deck charter and they do early boarding for our party for the ceremony. I suppose we could charter the whole boat if we wanted to, but with a smaller party, the private deck will work out perfectly.

Thanks that is way more information than I got when I emailed them (weird).  I just looked and it said $1000 for a private deck and $36.95 per person dinner.  But that price doesn't include booze.  :-( I'm not sure how many of our guests will make it up to LG in time (hopefully most of them) but if not maybe we'll skip the private deck.

Also where is everyone going to block rooms?  We're probably going to go with Ft. William Henry since it's in walking distance of the church and I'm pretty sure there's no minimum.  Sort of wanted someplace on the beach but they all have three night minimums in season.  I think the Ft. William Henry is nice but then again I've never stayed there.

I have a bunch of vendor info and reviews in my bio.We also blocked rooms at Ft. William Henry.  They don't have a minimum, and gave us the best deal out of all the ones we looked at.  And they've got a good location.  It's not RIGHT in the middle of all the downtown stuff, but it's right there.

Notquite, yes alcohol would be extra. I have the cost sheet at home on my desk if you want to know specifics. And the private deck is almost $1300 now unless they do special prices for rehearsal dinners- they might! As for the question, I'm not sure. My dad is the only family member/friend that has made it up to this area before (I'm originally from Illinois and have friends and family mostly there, but also in Arizona where DH and I met) and he usually stays at a Marriott in Saratoga Springs, but in season that's quite an expensive option. I'll probably do some research on who will give the best prices from Albany all the way to my area. I'm thinking they might prefer to stay down there since it's closer to the airport, but I'll do some asking.
  • edited December 2011
Thanks.  Shoot maybe we should have booked it when it was cheaper.  I have an email somewhere that says what an hour of open bar costs but I wonder if they would just do beer and wine?  I guess I could just answer all of these questions myself if I emailed them again but we're in sort of a limbo because FI's parents want to host the RD (yay) but we're trying to see if our budget allows us to chip in. I'm pretty familiar with the Lake George area and I live in Albany.  I'm just being indecisive.  :-)

LOL, trust me I am right there with you at being indecisive. I figure after all this time of researching locations I should just know the right one offhand, but even though we're nearly certain now indecisive me keeps going back and forth. I think they can do open bar for just beer and wine. The cost sheet I have breaks it down by categories: Open juice/soda (those are included in the dinner cruise price though), open beer/wine/juice/soda, open call brands, and open premium brands.

What am I not special?  Why didn't they send me that stuff too?  Let me check my email again but I'm pretty sure they didn't.

We are getting married on the north end of the lake, but our photographer is from Albany and cake is from South Glens Falls. Photographer - Bailly Photo (Matt & Leah Bailly) Cake - Cindy Murphy (Cindy Murphy's Cake Shoppe) We are not having a DJ, our flowers are out of Ticonderoga and I think everything else is at our venue - Silver Bay.

Lynnie--how are the prices for Finishing Touches?  Did you shop around for other flower places in the area?I haven't booked any upstate NY vendors outside of silver bay.  I don't know where to start looking since I'm limited to what I can find online.  :/We already have a photographer, but she's traveling down from Canada.  Not planning on a videographer.  We're going to try to do an ipod wedding and forgo the dj.  Doing our own makeup....It's just hair and flowers we have to figure out!

Nukke -- I did not really "shop around" for florists, as such. I called Susan at Finishing Touches because I got her name from another bride who used my venue and loved her, and because the woman who coordinates our venue also liked working with her. We do not have a bridal party (except my FHs daughter, age 8) so we only really needed 2 bouquets, a couple of bouttoneires and a couple of corsages. However, for the designs we want (simple, single calla lilly bouttoneires, small corsages, and a bouquet of autumnal colors) prices seemed very very good: $15 for bouttoneire, $25 for corsage, $150 for bouquet. My second criteria for a florist was that he/she had arranged for, or created Huppahs, before (We are jewish) and wouldnt need much help with the ideas or execution. Susan was very competent in that area, and her proposal perfectly met our needs. To top it all off, after that, I saw some of her amazing work in the Well Wed in New York Magazine/book thingy and loved every bit. so thats about it. hope it helps, lynnie

I had checked out Finishing Touches just a couple weeks ago, LOVED Susan!!! but one problem....havent heard back from her!! That isnt a good thing for a bride to be to encounter.   (im out of state)We are booking another trip up in October and unfortunately for Kevin we might have to make a couple more florist stops.  Images by Moak was great, however we ended up grabbing a RI photographer.  For Hair and Make Up- LOVE Staci and Susan at the SPA STUDIO in Glens Falls.  They have a salon in the Fort William Henry!! Works great for me!! That's our location. Staci is fast but does amazing work!! Great Personality!

Jennah, So weird that you have not heard from Susan. I am out of state too (in Utah!) and she has always been great about replying by email, and we had a phone conference twice (which required coordinating me in Utah, my FI in Ithaca, and her in Bolton). I wonder if she has had an emergency, since it seems very out of character. Good luck!

Nukke - you could try Country Florist in Ticonderoga. I am working with Francine and the prices she gave me were right in my price range. (cheaper than Finishing Touches and about the same distance from SB) You have a lot of time to look around so I would talk to a few places and get a few estimates.
