Adirondacks Wedding Planning from Virginia--HELP!!!!

Hey lovely ladies of NY! I am now officially getting married in the Adirondacks (Inlet, NY to be specific) next year and I need your help! I have NO idea where to start looking for vendors! I currently live in Virginia and I only know two people up there (who own the home..er...mansion we are having our wedding at). I really need a good idea of where to go to find photographers, DJs and bakers. Please help!!! :)

Hey there! Im Planning a wedding in Lake Placid for next year, and although i am familiar with the area, i now live in utah so im planning from afar too. One of the things that has been so helpful to me was working with an amazing event planner named Mim Frantz with Juniper Events. Check her out -- she helps with all sorts of events and is amazing. She knows everyone in the area and can do anything! If you contact her and dont mind, please let her know that I gave you her name. Good luck! lynnie

Congrats!!! I was born and raised in NY and had my wedding in May 2009 in upstate NY!!! I moved last summer to Virginia when my now husband excepted a job. Believe me, I know how difficult it is to plan a wedding from afar. If I can help you out I would love to!!! I have had the WORST time with my photographer that is out of Bolton Landing, NY. (Ann Marie Somma) First off, she was late to the wedding....It took her about 2 months to send me inserts for my thank you cards and then only kept the pictures posted online for 2 weeks after that. After trying to constantly call/email her, she extended it another 2 weeks which meant I had to call all my guests to let them know. In our pricey package we got the digital negitives which we just got about 3 weeks ago and they were all unedited. Her work is stunning but her timing stinks! We finally got a hold of her about 3 weeks ago when we got the digital negitives and requested to order photos from the wedding since we had a photo credit. That took about 1-2 weeks to come. So now it is 10/14/09, and I have NOT a single photo book that I paid for which was supposed to include one large album for myself and husband, one for each of our parents and a 4th one for our coffee table. We just got the the proof for the books and they are TERRIBLE!!!!! All unedited and the pictures she choose are the not the best ones she took. In order for us to change a picture in the book, she wants us to pay another $250.00 per hour. There is nothing in the contract about this. My advice... one, don't use her because its like pulling teeth to get what we paid for. two, read all of your contracts and ask about any edited for prints.. three, find a photographer that is willing to work with you and statisfy your needs from afar. PS: as for DJ's Call Scott Hemming... Sound Control DJ's - he was awesome. Even dressed up in a chicken suit for chicken dance. He travels the distance and does an AMAZING job!!! Well worth it!!!
