Cap Region Shower & Cake Reccs Needed

Hi!  Anyone have any good recommendations for a.) wedding cake bakers and b.) shower venues?

Wedding cake bakers must be budget friendly to convince my crazed fiance that, no, he will not be making our own wedding cake (save me, please).

Shower venues need to be interesting/fun/different- not interested in the 'country club' or traditional feel. 

ANY suggestions would be helpful, thanks!

    Where are you looking?  I can recommend a baker, but I don't know if she is near you.

    Anywhere in the immediate capital region- Albany/Saratoga/Troy.  We live in Latham...

    We used Lisa from Gourmet Confections she was FANTASTIC.  See my full review under vendor reviews in my bio.  Not sure how budget friendly she is or isn't, we paid $1.50/person, but my cake was technically included in my package up to $3/person, so I would guess she runs about $4/person.
