Spring colors for a winter wedding?

I had the idea to do white and black with peach accents. UNTIL I found out that everyone does't think it's very fittign for my December wedding in the mountains. It bummed me out. My maid of honor said I should do blue or purple to get that winter feel. but I HATE winter, and really loved that the peach would bring that brightness and spring feel. I know it's my day, my wedding, but that totally just ruined my wedding high. What do you think??

Re: Spring colors for a winter wedding?

  • I don't think you need to have your colors match the season.  I think a soft peach would like very nice, or you could pair it with another winter-like color.

  • I agree... do what you want. My brother and his wife had a beautiful black, white, and red wedding in May.
  • I agree!!  My accent color for my December wedding is yellow!!  Do what you want, it's your wedding (and your fiancee's but in the case of mine he cared about a lot of other things more than the colors).

  • love it!  i think if you wanted to incorperate "winter" colours you could always do a nice navy or deep green.
  • ps-if you HATE winter, why are you getting married in winter?  just curious!
  • Go for it.  If those are the colours you love then do it.   I'm assuming everything will be held inside so you can make it as bright as you want.  Ultimately its about whatever sort of energy you want to create.

There are a lot of ways to play with the colour and make it work with your location.  Winter in the mountains is filled with brilliant colours - just think about the sunshine bouncing off of the snow, glittering granite rock of the mountains or the spectacular sunsets and/or northern lights.  If you feel compelled to 'winter' it up a bit, pair it with antique golds and sage greens.  Play with textures to give the colour more weight - less chiffon, more heavier fabrics, less light florals and more work with candles and lighting.  I totally think its doable.

You won't be able to feel the cold or tell the season in the photos, but you will smile every time you see your favourite colour.

Don't worry that nothing compared to mine. I'm having a winter wedding with Spring colors. My fiancee and I both love winter but I love the soft colors of spring. lol
