HM at Lake George

I'm out here to talk to the experts!

We're from Illinois and will be traveling to New York in July for our honeymoon.  We will start with a weekend in Cooperstown during the baseball hall of fame induction.  On Sunday we will head to Lake George for a week of relaxation on the lake.

Any suggestions you can provide for resorts on the Lake would be great.  We're hoping to get a house or cottage or chalet on the lakefront and as many water activities as possible.

Thanks ladies!

Look into the Inn at Erlowest...  They have some beautiful rooms in a mansion right on the lake.  I think you'll love it!

There are a variety of accomodations in Lake George, in all different price ranges. Are you trying to be budget concious, or are you going for luxurious? Or somewhere in between?

We'd like to keep the stay below $2500 for the week.  If it includes meals, we're looking at $3000 max.

While the more popular resorts may not fit into your budget, you may be able to poke around the above website and find something that suits. The local newspaper has classified ads online, and you might find rental information in there as well.  I definitely recommend calling if you see something you like, even if it seems out of your budget, and asking if there are any specials to be had. Hopefully the rotten NY economy can work to your advantage.

Sorry I can't offer more specifics. Good luck!

Check out the Lodges at Cresthaven, they are gorgeous as well and right on the lake and the boathouse restaurant attached is really good too, if you're interested in something a little different, try Top of the World Resort, it's a bed and breakfast/golf resort but it's located such that you can see lake george from the "top of the world" it's amazing and the food at their Farm House restaurant is amazing, even if you don't stay here I'd recommend the restaurant...I might be biased since this is where I'm getting married but still :)
