Advice from anyone in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge Area

   Hello, Tennessee Knotties.  :)

My fiance and I are getting married in less than four months now (!!!), and our honeymoon is going to be a week in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area.  I have already been to the area once before, about four years ago, so I know my way around the area a little bit, but not a whole lot.  We plan on going up into the mountains, seeing a couple shows, trying out some restaurants, and mostly just relaxing at our cabin, but I would really love to be able to maybe go to a beach while we're there as well.  Does anyone on this board know of any nice, CLEAN beaches in the Sevier County area?  Or do you have any suggestions of things that we should do while we're there?

   Thanks everyone.  :)

Please don't take this the wrong way.. but you know Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is in the mountains/no where near a beach, right? I mean, even the lakes around here don't have beaches... It's too hilly! I don't know of any artifical beaches either, though Dollywood Splash Country (a water park) is supposed to be quite nice. Tubing in the creeks in the mountains is really fun though!

I LOVE Cades Cove-- great for just driving, talking, and looking at nature, but lots of people like biking and hiking there too. Dollywood, despite the kitsch factor, is really fun too! A good combination of rides, shows, and Smoky Mountain culture.

If you're willing to play the tourist and go to the sometimes cheesy attractions, the area is lots of fun! Plenty to do for a week! Hope that helps!

Aww.. I wish!! The closet beach to piegon forge is probably about 8 hours away.. I know, sucks!! But Piegon Forge has a ton of things to do.. We live about 2 hours from there and we go atleast 2-3 times a year.. Dollywood's Splash Country is a lot of fun if you're into water slides and wave pools. Also, Douglas Dam is very close to Sevierville. We went camping there last Summer. The lake is a super peaceful/romantic spot for a picnic or just to get away from the hustle and bustle of town. My finacee and I loved setting on the dock watching the sunset with our feet dangling in the water.. =) Here the website http://www.tva.gov/sites/douglas.htm. Hope this helps!! And have a wonderful honeymoon.

</div><div>   Haha, yes, I am aware that it's in the mountains...my family vacationed at Douglas in Sevierville four years ago, and it was somewhat beach-like...we were visiting during a drought though, so it's probably not like that normally.  I've found some results on Google that seem to imply there is a public beach at Cherokee lake, but so far I haven't been able to actually find any information about it, so that's why I though I would ask on here.  I know there aren't any ocean front beaches or anything there, I was just wondering if there are any public swimming areas at any of the lakes.  </div><div>
</div><div>   Thanks for the advice.  :)  We'll definitely be going to Cade's Cove, I love it there!  We probably won't go to Dollyworld, but your description of it sounds fun, so I'll definitely keep that in mind.  :)</div><div>

<div>   Thanks!  As I just told lil_miss_latinist, my family stayed in a cabin on Douglas Lake when we vacationed in Tennessee four years ago...it was fantastic, even though we were there during a drought and only actually swam in the lake a couple times, ha.  I wasn't sure if it was open for public swimming though...is there a particular place that you have to go at the dam that's open to the public, or is it just anywhere?  I'm trying to find out from the website, but it's just confusing me.  :P  Thanks so much for your response though, this definitely helps answer my question.  :)</div>
