Quotes for the magazine about your wedding

Hey Knotties,

I need ideas for the magazine. We’ll use your Knot Name for this, so you’ll be “wedding famous” here! I need to know what you’re are doing or what you did to make your wedding special. Maybe you have an awesome theme or are serving an amazing midnight snack? Maybe you’re using your parents’ cake toppers or are wearing your mom’s dress. Whatever it is, I want to know! The more specific, the better!

Thanks,

KA

FI is an avid World of Warcraft player. I found a person on Etsy to make a 7"tall, very detailed,  polymer clay sculpture of FI's Amani War Bear. FI will be his normal character, in formal attire, and I will be in my wedding dress sitting atop this bear. There will be a banner across the back of the bear that says "Just Married", like its our getaway car. I'm going to use it for his groom's cake, but have not yet decided on any other features of the cake besides the flavor. I am not really into WoW at all, but I think its going to come out really awesome!

I'm getting married 6 years to the day and the date my FI asked me out. He asked me out on Friday October 8th, 2004 and were getting married Friday October 8th, 2010. Not many people can say that. Oh and it's a beach theme in October. We just had to be married on this day/ date.

FI and I lived in Upstate New York for two years while I was in grad school (2008-2010). We constantly visited New York City and it was a major part of our lives. FI actually proposed in New York City, as well. As a result, we decided to shape the theme of our wedding around our love of Austin (where we are from and where we now live) and New York City. Our invitations incorporated the skylines of NYC and Austin and the various inserts included silhouettes of some of our favorite buildings in the two cities. Similarly, our tables are named after our favorite buildings:

Our baker came up with the brilliant idea of juxtaposing the two skylines on different tiers of our square cake and connecting them with silver dragee stars. I cannot wait to see the finished product.

We will be getting married on my birthday and one day shy of our 10th anniversary (Monday was not an option for our wedding. Otherwise we would be getting married 10 years to the day). He also proposed to me on our 8th anniversary on a 737. It was just us and a couple of friends and coworkers of his at the proposal. The proposal helped to influence our color pallet of black, white, orange and blue.

Our center pieces will be black and white photographs of family members wedding portraits. We are also making 1,000 origami cranes. Fiance is always making them so it is an easy project to accomplish. A lot of the cranes will be set out on the tables along with the photographs. I haven't thought of any other uses for them yet. I will also be looking into having the backer make a the grooms cake look like a 12 pack case of Dr. Pepper. Dr. Pepper is his favorite and he drinks it all the time.

I am originally from bangladesh, and my hubby is from Aruba - so wewanted to incorporate both water heritages, while also keeping the weddign interesting and cute. We call each other hunnibunnies, so our cake is going to be a topsy turvy cake that will resemble the ocean and waves, willhave some purple waterlilies, and then on top there will be a chocolate river boat, a chocolate pergola with drapes, and then the best part - 2 bunnies which will resemble him and me. The female one will wear a paisley sundress (I lov colorful paisley prints, and they remind me of desi patterns), and the male bunny will wear a fedora whose trim will resemble the colors on my sundress. We are also doing bangles and a southasian sweet as favors, with rose paisleys adorning the walkway to the "alter". I wil lbe wearing a traditional southasian lehnga which has been custom altered into a western dress, and the bridesmaids and groomswomen will be wearing saris. Excited but nervous and scared! I think it will all be beautiful -once everything falls into place - on the 29th of this month!!

My oldest friend is a singer and my FH's oldest friend is a musician. They are singing and playing "I want to hold your hand" for our first dance. It means so much to us to have them be a big part of our day and I think it will be really special for our guests too. It something personal we are sharing and weddings should be all about sharing your lives with each other and your loved ones. We are even sharing out big day with our dog, who will be our ring barer, should make for some fun pictures!

We are also having the friend that introduced us to each other get ordained to be our officiant. We wanted every part of our wedding to be us, and having a stranger marry us, seemed really strange. Why would I want the biggest day of our lives to be in the hands of someone who doesn't know us or love us?
