Where do you rehearse?

Hello everyone! I have an odd question. My fiance and I are getting married in a location that will be unavailable to us until 11:00am the day of the ceremony.

Where the heck are we supposed to have our wedding rehearsal? Is it enough to just talk it over the night before? We can't have it in a backyard, because our venue isn't anywhere near our home or the homes of any of our guests (it's in a National Park).

Thanks for your help!

Re: Where do you rehearse?

  • Rehearse wherever you want.  I've rehearsed in hotel conference rooms and dining rooms :-)

Weddings aren't hard.  People will get it.
  • You don't have to have a rehearsal if you don't want to, or aren't able.
  • We had ours in a little park next to our rehearsal dinner restaurant. It doesn't matter where you have the rehearsal.

  • You don't have to have a rehearsal at all.

To me, the only reason for a rehearsal is a walk-through in the planned setting.  Since you cannot use that place for your "rehearsal" -- you and your fiance can just sneak in there  a few weeks/days ahead of time and feel the vibe yourselves.  Skipping a formal rehearsal will take some of the stress out of your pre-wedding hours.

    Good luck!
  • Our venue was the same, and we did our rehearsal in the park a few steets over (our venue was outdoors).
It was no big deal. You may also ask on your local board what other girls who have gotten married there have done.
  • Our ceremony is on a sailboat that we're charting, so we won't be having a rehearsal. Anyway, if it's not overly complicated and you give decent instructions, a rehearsal isn't necessary.

  • My brother and sister-in-law rehearsed on the outside deck of my parents' apartment building.  Rehearsals don't have to take place at the actual venue of the ceremony; there just needs to be an understanding of what everyone is supposed to do and when.
